Greetings. Can one get rid of babesia with just oral drugs? Has anyone out there successfully done this? And being infected with both Lyme and Babesia, has anyone gotten treatment for both at the same time? I am just treating one at a time, so when I am on the drugs for Babesia, the lyme comes back. Would love any thoughts.

Hi MG,

You need to tell us what you are taking for Babs treatment. If you are taking Mepron and Zithromax or Ketek, you should be able to keep the Lyme "at bay." Artemisinin is also very helpful.

From experience, and other people's stories, you'll never get started getting rid of Lyme without getting rid of the Babs first.

There are many Babs success stories on this site - including myself. It just takes a while.

Unless you were just infected, it's most likely going to take a while for your treatment to be successful.

Blasting these diseases with heavy duty treatments is only going to hurt you in the long run. I know, I've gotten myself so toxic that any antibiotic puts me immediately in to a state of severe illness.

Slow and steady wins the race.

Hey there mountaingirl! Welcome! My LLMD treats 10 days with Lyme meds, then 10 days with babs meds....for several months. This prevents either disease from getting the upper hand.

Sure you can beat this without IV! Most people do. Babesia doesnt' go away easily so you may need many rounds to clear it.

What are you taking?

I took clindamycin/quinine and later artemisinin to clear the babs. I THINK it's gone.

thanks for your responses.

I'm on zith plus mepron and have been alternating that with omnicef for the lyme. infoected only 9 months, tick bite on cape cod in july last year. started Babs meds in late january.

i am very up and down, and have gone four weeks without any symptoms, then 4 weeks with symptoms. do not feel like i am getting better, so i wondered about th IV for lyme at the same time as orals for Babs. Or maybe you can't take them at the same time.

any comments appreciated!

MG

I think that can be done. Seems like someone here was doing that. I don't think it's necessary. Clearing Lyme and babesia is very difficult once it takes hold [as in months wihtout treatment]. Even if you got to it right away, it's hard to clear.

So which screen name are you going to use? I like "Judith" myself. That's my sister-in-law's name!
