Can anyone suggest a good lab to double check the results of the WB positive I had from Igenex. My infectious disease doc threw out Igenex's results saying, "not another positive from Igenex!". She had another WB done by the Yale lab, which came back negative for IgG and IgM. She is relying on the Yale lab to say, Lyme disease is not the problem here.
Also tested mildly positive 1:40 for babs and bartonella (1:80) with Igenex. I would like to try another lab, please does anyone have any suggestions.
I am also wondering if anyone knows what the statistical chances for a false positive are. I once heard there was a two in one hundred chance of a WB band showing up as a false positive. I had two bands, 31 and 41 show positive with Igenex. Thanks for any responses.

Igenex test is much more complete than the yale lab trust me. I would suggest going to a LLMD not an ID dr. I read recently that Igenex's percentage of positives is 67% not bad considering that the blood was sent there in the first place suspected of Lyme.
I don't know why I have been hearing that igenex has too many positives. WB tests are rarely false positive much more often they are false negative. A WB test is similar to a pregnacy test you are positive or you aren't. What benefit would igenex get from false positives they don't get more money from a positive do they?

Get your blood tested by Bowen Research lab. Get away from Yale. Have your doctor call Bowen at 727-937-9077. I went to all the labs back in 2000/2001 until I found Bowen. They showed me the pictures of what was in my blood. It was not only lyme but babesia, HME, ande HGE. I went to 16 doctors before they could tell me it was all of this. I do have the picture of my bite from 1994. Bowen will send forms to fill out by fax to your doctor.
Go to www.lymediseaseinformation.com for the pamphlet. Print this out. This shows the coinfections. Get tested now and save your life.
My suggestion is to go and find an LLMD YOU DON'T NEED TO PROVE -TWICE- this ID duck that you have Lyme and Co.
Even if you do it, then you will have to convince her that the lousy 21 days of abx she will prescibe for you, will NOT DO THE TRICK FOR LYME.
My former ID duck ordered -on his own, I didn't ask for it- an Igenex test (I already had a Dynacare positive test), he charge me extra because of a handling fee and on top of that he made me do a spinal tap. Well, my Igenex test came positive off the charts, they were like +++ on most of the Lyme bands but my spinal fluid was -. After all this my ID duck said, "I am not so sure you have Lyme" (by then I was unable to walk longer than 3 min at a time) BUT, I will be "generous" with you and gave me doxy for 21 days at a lousy 200 mg/day.
I took the meds, got on the net found LYMENET, ask for help finding an LLMD and 9 months later I am so much better.
If you want your health back, send the ID ignorant duck along with Yale lab to h..... save your $$$$ you will need it to buy your meds.
Good luck to you, do it fast, time is ticking and not in your favor

I have/had Babesia, Ehrlichia hme and hge, and Lyme - it was proven by IgeneX and treatment. I was so sick and now after treating the babs first and then everything else I am back at 75%.
I had two negative Elisa's one was through LabCorp here in N.C. the other was through Quest which was ordered by ID at Johns Hopkins.
Wouldn't waste my time at Yale if I were you...

31 is a very good, clear indicator of Lyme disease. Band 41 can show up in other spirochtal illnesses, but not band 31. In fact, Nick Harris says that band 31 rarely shows up until the person has had the infection for a long time.
Your doctor is not very knowledgeable. If she thinks Igenex has too many positives, Bowen labs, with 100% positives, is not going to convince her. Lab results can not be used to rule out Lyme disease. Instead, you would be better off with another doctor.
Igenex has more positive tests because they test with better primers, for more strains of the disease than Yale Labs. They look at all the bands that are specific to Lyme, that ONLY will show up in the presence of Lyme, whereas Yale throws out some of the most specific bands. That is why they have so many fewer positive tests.
If you want to try another lab, MDL on the east coast is another decent lab. They may or may not show a positive result, just like Igenex may or may not show you to be positive if you retested.
