I am currently on Amoxi and Probenicid. Just finished my second month. It does not seem to be doing very much for my symptoms. If this is the wrong combo for me, will my condition continue to get worse until my LLMD determines what abx will work for me? I know this sounds like a silly question, but can the lyme bacteria continue to do damage until I get on the right combo or will the abx I am on slow it down so that I don't continue to worsen?

People seem to have wildly different reactions to amox--it either works or it doesn't.
If it doesn't work for you, by all means get on another abx ASAP.
As you will see from reading Lymenet, people can literally spend years and years sick. The longer you are sick, the more you will get used to seeing your health problem as normal instead of intolerable--you slowly forget what health felt like.
So don't wait for your LLMD to figure out your case. Lyme is not like many other life threatening illnesses, where the doctor is the all-knowing expert, or spends hours and hours analyzing your symptoms. You must educate yourself about available treatments, and make suggestions. My rule is that you never go longer than two months without trying at least one new abx or supplement.
Yes, your condition can worsen if you do not get the correct treatment.
Find out what your LLMD plans to do in terms of identifying and treating ALL of the tick-borne diseases you might have. You may not see immediate improvement, but you should be seeing changes of some sort. I agree with Liz- aggressive, proactive treatment is what you want.

I have been infected with LD for approximately 17 years. I didn't get treatment till 1997.
Since that time I was on and off various combinations of antibiotics. Held my ground until 2003 (a year wherein I got no abx).
Have been on Ketek & Cedax since March.
Treatment of Lyme is often hit and miss. What works for some might not work for others.
My advice (and I say this cause I've been there) is stay on antibiotics and try different combos if one stops working for you or doesn't work at all. Don't go for long stretches of time without any abx at all.

We've been having really good results from combining amoxicillin with artemisinin.
Amoxicillin by itself does not seem to do much, nor does artemisinin by itself as far as Lyme is concerned. Artemisinin in combination with amoxicillin causes any mature spirochetes that wander into the blood serum to rupture and die.
Ask your Dr of course first, but you might try adding a little artemisinin to the amoxicillin before you give up on it.
Start with one... increase it cautiously until you start to feel it. A wave of light headedness and a drop in blood pressure happens when they start to disintegrate, and may happen repeatedly for 12 to 18 hours.
We've been doing this for a month now, and we are feeling good enough that we did strenuous hikes in 3 national parks, including the Grand Canyon last week.
