I have all the neuro symptoms but
NO joint pain. Does this sound like
Lyme or more like one of the Co-Infections?

I have heard pain as being a major
component of lyme. But I have no
pain???

I am on 400mg Doxy right now but wonder
if a co-infection is doing me in more.

My major symtoms are Fatigue, Brainfog,
Sun intensifies Brainfog, and ringing in
the ears. I have others but these are
the ones that make life hard for me.

Once the sun goes down I only have the
Fatigue issue. The other 3 go away
completely.

So is there a specific Co-infection that
this sounds like??

Thanks

tom,
I had no joint pain - mine was mostly neuro.
Brain fog, tingliness, headache, word finding problems, memory and concentration issues and severe fatigue.

I did have discomfort in right side - shoulder, arm, and stiff neck (which is what I'm feeling now). But realize that was probably due to a fall down my stairs months before my diagnosis and the lyme just helped to atrophy the muscles to make it worse...

Not sure about co-infection - but I took 200mg doxy for 4 months and did great! I continued to improve, even off the abx - every month doing better.

I am now trying to figure out if I strained a muscle working on the computer yesterday or have a new case of lyme....

Sorry I'm not more help - but definitely understand the neuro issues and no joint pain My joints were and still are fine (knock on wood).

Your dosage was only 200MG? I have
read that 200MG is not high enough
and that Lyme will come back if you
don't treat it with high enough dose.

I am on double that (400MG) and I have
read that 400MG is the minimum and that
600MG would be better. I myself am
trying to get myself to 600MG a day
but its hard since you feel like crap
as it is..

You're right, Tom. 200 mg is too low to kill out this stuff.

Many people do not have pain....lucky you! I'm sure you'll have others who will chime in on that.

Have you gone through the yeast protocol yet? This could be an important factor in relieving some of those neuro symptoms, believe it or not.

I wonder about bartonella?? I don't know much about it, but I know it causes alot of neuro symptoms.

Hope this helps!

I do the best I can with the yeast procol.
No more bread. No fruit. No Sugar. I
cheat and eat french fries or potato chips
here and there. It's impossible to live
on chicken/Beef/Salad/Nuts all the time.
Twice a week I cheat and have a soda when
I eat out.

I also take the Nystatin pills to control
yeast.

My tounge is now normal and I don't crave
sugar so I give myself a passing grade.
Did I follow the protocol? I do the best
I can but cheat here and there.

This hasn't helped my neuro symptoms at
all. I will say I feel less flu-like.

I wanted to re-state my intent for this
topic since this might be more to the
point...

I keep hearing that LYME=Joint pain which
I don't have.

SO....

I wanted to make sure I wasn't wasteing
time treating Lyme with DOXY when maybe
I should be going after a co-infection
with a different abx.

Thanks...

I am completely 100 percent neuro.

I consider my stiff neck to be neuro as well. I lied, I have an ear and shoulder issue to.

So 95 percent of my issues were all neuro: lightheaded, dizzy, vertigo, Orthostatic Hypotension, brain DRUNK, brain fog, tremors, tingling, etc

I also meant to state,

doxy doesnt kill the infection, it prevents growth.
Doxy did nothing for me. It may be your miracle antibiotic.

search bacteriostatic v. bacterialcidal antibiotics.

Youre seein a LLMD, right Tom? I cant remember.

I think you'll find that many Lyme patients are all neuro in their symptomology. So the same meds would still work. It's still Lyme.

Since everyone is so different, it's hard to say which meds will work for you. You just have to figure it out by trial and error.

TheCrimeOfLyme:
Yes I am saw Dr. C 2 weeks ago. He
started me on Doxy and said come back
in 2 months.

TheCrimeOfLyme:
Just curious, if doxy didn't work for you,
what have you found that works well?

So what I am hearing that I could be all
neuro in symtoms (no pain) and it still
could be just Lyme?

I hate wasteing my life on this illness
so I am asking all the questions I can
to make sure I am on the right abx's.

Thanks!

Tom,

I am mostly Neuro. Some times stiff hips but nothing compared to other symptoms.

I have the following kinds of "pain": fatigue, HEADACHES, ear ringing, TINGLING, numbness, VISUAL DISTURNBANCES, buzzing like feeling, TWITCHES, etc. I have no major joint issues, never have. My shoulder "situation" is the closest thing to joint issues, but that is rarely mentioned in literature. Usually weight bearing joints are mentioned.

I have tested positive for all 4: ehrlichia, lyme, bart, babs.

Have been treating lyme on and off for 15 years. Have had years at a time of no symptoms.

Currently treating Babs with mepron/zithro.

The symptoms are so closely related it is difficult to distinguish, but if you have a co-infection, then you may get better from lyme and relapse later. That is what heppened to me.

Did you get tested at IGENEX?
best, Trails

I have all neuro stuff and fatigue. No pain like you. My LLMD thought that it was babesia with a weak lyme strain. The test from igenex confirmed this. But the test as you know is not always accurate to the person's symptoms.

I started mepron and zith 2 months ago and I am doing about 50% better half of the time. It is helping with memory, fatigue, processing info, depression, spacey feelings, processing stimuli like lights and colors. Starting to have a glimmer of that "normal feeling" sometimes. So overall brain is better and the fatigue symptom is a little better.

Fallon(?) has that there is an alternation of neurological and arthritic symptoms and signs.

When neuro'd out, arthritic stuff tends to be nil(?), and when joints are acting up, neuro stuff is low.

Personally I've found this "alternation" to be true for myself, never the one or the other completely gone.
