Hi All
ing
This may be of the wall but I need to ask. Are popping / Cracking joints (particularly knees and feet) a common occurance with Lyme.
I was recently diagnosed and these symptoms have increased since being on Abx. It is also usually accompanied by sore tendons or Ligaments that attach to the side of the knee. The popping sounds just as if you were cracking your finger knuckles except it is on the side of the knee. I have never really had knee issues until I went on Abx.

Any Thoughts,

Lazarus

I've always been a bit of a "crackly" person, but yes, I know what you mean! Having been a runner, I tried to work out on a "Gazelle," - and it sounded as though a herd of elephants were running through piles of branches! Totally amazing! It paseed, however, after more time on abx!

Thanks Jay,

I will buy some this week. Can you tell me if the cracking is fairly typical. If so - why.

I have mainly arthritic lyme, and this symptom literally happened within a year of getting sick. I got sick at 21, and within the year, my knees were ridiculously loud and crackly. I didn't know what could do this (of course i didn't yet know i had lyme)..it can by found in synovial fluid, which is in our joints, which may explain it. it's from all the inflammation...

Lazarus, I had it mostly in my jaw. I hardly ever happens any more. I would say this symptoms is, if not typical, at least well known. Most likely, the increase you are experiencing is due to a herx. I have found that a product called Detox Tea made by Yogi Tea Company helps A LOT with herx symptoms. You can get it at most health food stores. Do not buy the Peach Dedox Tea. It doesn't work.

Since contracting lyme my joints have been loose and popping too, esp. shoulders and knees. I don't have any arthritic pain, just a swollen, "beestung" feeling in the tendons around my knees.

Yes, welcome to our "creaky/popping" club! Since I was misdx for 34 years, no one could ever explain the sounds system to me...

Lazarous, please help us late-stage lymies out and have short paragraphs of 6-8 lines only so we can read & comprehend. Double space between paragraphs. This is one of the additional things you may contend with the longer you have lyme disease...thanks so much for your consideration.

I am always humbled by the support on this board.

Thanks to all and please continue responding to this subject.

For some wierd reason there is comfort in numbers. Not that I would wish this on anyone!

My son was 14 and on the football team when his lyme hit. You could hear his joints popping, and crackling when he was ambling down the hallway.

This kid was in terrific shape in Oct.04, by Jan. he needed a wheelchair or walker.

Cleared up with treatment, and no long term effects.
