One thing to consider...Due to Lyme, I have a trigger-happy autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system operates the "fight or flight" mechanisms in the body, so when you are hit with stress, a chain of events inside your body will occur. Increased heart rate, anxiety, high BP, sweating, cold hands, difficulty thinking (thereby "reacting" to things inappropriately), etc.
I had stress reactions like that which wore me out. Until the doc put me on a beta-blocker. A beta-blocker actually blocks these stress impulses from getting so out-of-control. The medication I am taking is called Inderal, a very old, safe, cheap drug.
Consider asking the doc about this.
IMO, Lyme does damage such as this to the autonomic nervous system, causing stress reactions which are abnormal. My cardiologist agrees.
For years I was on high blood pressure meds because every time I walked into a doctor's office I would show high BP readings. I always called it "white coat anxiety".
But I recently went to a Lyme-literate cardiologist, and he thoroughly tested me, and said I do not have true "hypertension", but just a hypersensitive nervous system. My heart looks great, and I have been treated all these years unnecessarily.
Live and learn. Sometimes it is the simple solutions which can make all the difference. Just another way I can "live" with Lyme. My body will stay well if I can keep the stress reactions to a minimum. Stress kills, and can be horrible for this disease.
Anyone else have an experience like this?
