I don't like to be a pest but I probably am. I haven't got any support system where I am, there are no groups and no one to call.

I've been feeling relatively awful for a while and it just keeps getting worse. To add to the problem I've done some relatively stupid things in the past 2 weeks.

(Yeah, they seemed like good ideas at the time.) I don't really even want to list them because they're that dumb.

Anyway, on top of being more symptomatic than I've been in 5 years. It seems I created some major die-off, of what I can't be sure, and am in a sense herxing. (At least that's what it feel like.)

Everything is worse and I've got major brain involvement. I can't make sense of much and am very confused and disoriented.

I have moments when I'm perfectly clear but they're short lived. I feel like the days I was walking around in a biaxin cloud.

I've got non-stop headaches with pressure, nausea, blurred vision, lightheadedness and my eyeballs hurt. This on top of my usual neck and jaw stuff.

Oh, then there's the usual stuff, of late, neck and jaw stuff, the nerve thing down my leg, twitching, spasms, joint pain, sweats and chills, a sore throat that comes and goes, a lump in my throat that's trying to choke me, diarreah(which I can't spell). The list goes on...

I did something even stupider yesterday and had some palpitations and my balance is waaaay off.

I'm having a very hard time getting much sleep, despite taking meds to do so.

Emotionally, I'm swinging so fast even I can't keep up. Laughing, crying, angry, embarrassed, crying, laughing some more.

I do see the funny side of this at the moment, however, in 2 minutes I'll ber in tears. (Ha, didn't even take 2 minutes.)

I don't know if I even had a question, I mostly needed to tell someone. Oh yeah, I did have 2 questions actually.

Can someone point me in the direction of a thread with some de-toxing stuff in it? It might help, at this point. Although, considering recent events I'm not sure I trust my judgement. (I looked through 25 pages and know it's here somewhere.)

I don't remember the other question. drat!

I'm seeing the doctor on monday and am afraid I won't be able to express this. I'm very good at going completely blank when asked what's going on. And that's exactly what will be asked.

After the hour drive and couple of hour wait in the office, I doubt I'll make any sense. I have a list and will add what I wrote here to it. If I go in and just burst into tears, it usually isn't the most productive visit.

I think the other question may be "Can I have a hug?"

The emotional stuff is hard - so is physical. I'm crying this morning about the book that my 10 year old is telling me and I dont' feel I have a connection to him or myself. This disease is nerve related. I try to remember that as I take whatever I need to get me through the day. I don't know how to do a hug on screen, but if I could, I would.

As I've been told, hang in. We have no choice but to fight this.

God bless,
Cigi

Hi Blue,

Sorry you're going through this, especially alone.

Over at Infection & Inflammation, there's a thread on secondary porphyria, which can be caused by a number of things from heredity, medication, or an illness itself. What's pretty spooky is that the symptoms of secondary porphyria are identical to what you're describing and to what many of us experience. Check out the article which has some recommendations for dealing with the symptoms, many of which are the same things pwc report as helpful. One big one is charcoal. It's cheap and easy, and could give you a lot of relief. Check out the entire thread starting here at message #2941:
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/InfectionAndInflammation2/message/2941

Hope this helps. Feel better.

I wish I could give you a big hug but my ribs are too sore!

The things I do for detox are: drinking lots of water. Strict diet, absolutely no fruit, grains, yeast or sugar. Epsom Salt baths (2 cups salt)and podi patches.

When I start feeling toxin buildup, tingly feet, pin pricks in legs, brainfog... I start these things immediately and do them everyday.

I'm training myself to remember to soak in Epsom salts & use podi patches some days even when I'm feeling better. When I forget, the toxin level creeps back up.

The one thing that has made the biggest difference for me and gave me relief when nothing else would is podi patches from www.akgnaturals.com I'm using them every night this week since I'm going through a rough spell. I find the original patches with the strong smoky smell work best for me. The new "Heaven" patch does not smell but doesn't work quite as well for me. It is great though to have a patch I can use when travelling or when I can't have smoky feet.

Now for the most stupidest things U dun. Find my dummiest lymie mishaps post from May and confess all. I started that post the night I walked home in the rain and then at midnight remembered that I drove to work that day and had forgotten my car in a space that turns to Tow Zone at 1:00am

Making lists helps me alot. Keep adding to the list you are going to bring your Dr.

Ha, you didn't know what lengths I would go to for hugs!

Let's see...

I ate too much sugar and after my period felt like I was systemic yeast girl. The thing that worked the best years ago was pau d'arca tea. I brewed up a quart and iced it and drank it over 2 days. In the past there was massive yeast die-off. The flaw in the logic here was the last time I tried that was after a course of anti-biotics and the lyme wasn't rampant.

A day or 2 later I decided to take something to boost immunity, I only did that for a day or 2 and thought better of it.

So I decided to take a little milk thistle, only one a day, for a few days.

In the meantime a friend had talked me into going to a yoga class, which I went to last wednesday. After the fact, I realized this would also release some toxins. I only felt awful from it for 2 days so went again yesterday, having spoken to the instructor about going easier and why. Umm...it didn't really go that way. I started getting palpitations and my throat felt like it was closing up near the end. When I went to stand up I couldn't. I kind of crumpled.

Oh, I forgot another one. I thought starting up on magnesium would be a good thing. I read all the posts and went to the store. It stopped the twitches but I couldn't sleep for 4 days. It occurred to me last night to stop it and see what happens.

It seems somewhat clear now that when I'm grasping for straws I ought to take a step back and consider it a little better.

I stopped everything and will wait for monday.

Is it dumb enough for a hug?
(I'm hoping I don't get a spanking instead.)

Thank you so much HEATHERKISS! Do you give lessons? I learned how to do colors today, I think.

I'm not sure spooky is the word I'd use. I'm not sure what word I'd use. "Freaked-out" comes to mind.

I didn't mention that I'm majorly chemically sensitive and have HepC did I. And have more symptoms they mentioned. I'll go back and read it again and get some charcoal tomorrow.

I really appreciate the information. I've been wondering what the heck's going on for a while. I'll print it and add it to my stuff to overwhelm the doctor with. It actually makes more sense than anything I've seen in a while.

Thank you! Yup, hugs for you too, penny!

((((((BIG HUGS))))) trueblue !!!!

But I'm sensing maybe your screen name may have something to do with it...let's see...how about changing that first!!!! You know, it is a fact that if you tell some one they are blue enough times, they'll eventually be blue!

And secondly....stop doing whatever stuoid things you think/know are stupid!!!! I feel like I may have said that before, well it's all coming back now, I have children that I had to keep reminding that stupid stuff was stupid stuff....but they had to find out for themselves...'nuff said! There, now with that said....

You're at least at the point of admitting you did something dumb and stupid, that's a start and is a big step!

Now repeat after me...I will not do anymore stupid dumb stuff! Now repeat that (out loud) over and over til you fall asleep, and remind yourself of the consequences, about every tens times you say it!

I'm sincerely sorry your feeling the way you do, I know the feelings all to well, but not because I did dumb stuff, other then being ignorant and taking a fairly healthy "LIFE" for granted! I wish someone would have told me to watch out for the ticks, as they can be hazardous to your health!

Maybe it is time to back off of some of the meds your on, don't quit!!!! unless you get orders from your LLMD, and DO call your LLMD, regardless what it costs...your life is worth it!! And no one deserves to go thru what your experiencing right know! Your LLMD needs to know how your feeling!!! He can help you!

There is a lot of great support here....do keep posting, it help me to keep my mind off pain at times...(I used to sit and watch TinCup's little stick man dance to different songs, he seems to keep beat to most any song...so you say I'm a wierdo, I know, Tinny thought so, too...Ha!

But I don't care what TC thinks....see how that "wierdo" wants something before even giving up a hug!

I'm sure someone will come along with some good tips on detoxing....but do be careful AND CALL YOUR LLMD!!!!

And one more thing....you are NOT alone....you have plenty of caring friends here!!!! More support then you probably even realized....now get back to repeating...."I will not do any more stupid dumb stuff!"

((((MORE HUGS))))
~laserred~

AND you are not a pest...this is just part of what this board is all about! ...but really...let's work on that name...wouldn't you rather look like this than this

Actually, hatsnscarfs, so are mine.
We can try very, very gently. That's why the virtual kind work, too, sending you some right now.

and thank you for all the suggestions, I have to go back and read more about the podi-patches. Do epsom salt baths have to be hot? (I can't do hot, just wondering.)

I read it when you posted. Sorry, but I laughed, it so easily could have been me. (I've done many similar things but just can't think of them at this moment.)

I've done more stupid-stupid things than stupid-funny things, you can laugh about later, the past few weeks. See above, they've limited entertainment value. Other than to have people shake their heads.
(Ow, I shook mine to prove the point and that hurts.)
*rolls eyes and that hurts, too*

Hey Blue!

I certainly know how you are feeling. Sometimes it all just gets to be too much to handle.

But somehow, I haven't quite figured it out yet, you have to believe that someday you will be able to beat the lyme and the worst will be behind you. Ya, I know it's hard but we need to have hope.

Keep your chin up, it will get better.

Hip hip hurray!

YES! We have a winner!

Congratulations to Trueblue.. winner of the "Thursday Night Not-So-Bright Award"!!!

And a big round of applause for hatsnscarfs for coming in second!

If anything should prevent the first place winner from carrying out their duties... such as forgetting to show up at an International function... or... forgetting where she put her head ... or .. forgetting to wash and iron her red, white, and blue, "Systemic Yeast Girl" outfit... etc.. then the second place winner will take her place.

IF... that is... SHE can can remember where she put her CAR!

And the prize for 1st place?

A bunch of hugs!

The second place winner gets a free staple gun to attach an umbrella to her nose so the next time she gets stuck in the rain she won't get soaked!

Now... don't you feel a bit better?

The screename was about color. I like blue, true blue, a nice ultramarine or cobalt is very nice. Blue is very soothing to me. But I see your point. I use this name elsewhere and couldn't think of anything when I registered. Any suggestions? Can I change screen names?

That's so funny. I started saying it out loud and didn't want to fall asleep until I wrote this so will pick it up again in little while.

Heh, that's just it, I'm not on meds. Amazing isn't it? I only take a carasopradol in the evening and neurontin and xanax at bedtime. I was hoping to start some treatment, I'm off ABX for 4 years. I've only recently realized that that too was stupid. Now I don't know. I spoke to the doctor's office and have an appointment on monday.
*says out loud, "I will not do stupid things!"*

Yes, I noticed that and fell right into her trap. Sneaky little parrothead isn't she?

Thank you sincerely for the post, reassurance, hugs and laughs. It's nice to feel less alone and, well, there's the hugs. ((((REALLY BIG HUGS))))laserred
I have been called a hugjunkie before, maybe it's a better name? (I'm notoriously bad at thinking up names) Remind me to tell the story of the first atm pin number I ever had to pick, one day.

"I will not do any more stupid dumb stuff!"
"I will not do any more stupid dumb stuff!"
"I will not do any more stupid dumb stuff!"
"I will not do any more stupid dumb stuff!"...

(It's a little like writing I will not chew gum in class.)

Thank you, long2!
I do try and keep that perspective but lately have gone straight into overwhelm.

I've gone into each and every treatment (and everything else) I've tried keeping as positive as possible. It's time to go around again. I didn't realize this time had come until the other day. I was working with some powerful denial there.

It'll be fine; I'll meet you on the other side of this thing.

*Hugs long2*

Now.. for some medical related chat...

I am not sure what is going on with you. Babesiosis? Lyme? Yeast die-off? Yeast by itself? I wish I had answers for you.

I will talk a bit about herxing since you mentioned it feels like you are in your post.

Many folks see the word "herx" and say.. ok.

Others see it and want to scream and beat their heads on a concrete floor.

A question that is often seen here is...

"Is this a herx or am I gonna die?"

The painful herxes are the worst.

No.. the emotional herxes are the worst.

No.. a combo of the two is the worst.

Who can say?

Either way.. they SUCK!

From experience I have learned.. from my own and watching many others... IF you are herxing.. which I am not sure you are or are not...

There isn't much you can do to stop it.

You can spend your time trying this and that.. adding supplements and/or stopping stuff... but all that does it pass time while the toxins are leaving your body anyhow... at their OWN pace.

The BEST advice I have is.. for herxing or feeling bad...

Call the doctor.. which you have done.

Stop all meds and supplements except life supporting meds and anti-inflammatory/pain meds. (Don't stop your regular stuff like heart meds, thyroid, diabetic, etc)

Drink decaf green tea.. hot or cold.

DON'T add a cleanse or toxin remover to the mess.. or any other things before the doctor gives you their advise. You can make yourself worse. Wait till you are more stable before you detox and don't add to the confusion you already have going on.

Drink LOTS of water. Enough to float a battleship. Add some fresh lemon juice if you would like.

Rest.

Rest.

Rest.

Shower each day or more often, especially if sweating, to get toxins off your skin so they won't be reabsorbed.

Some folks think a sauna helps.

Stay active if possible... but don't overdo.

Contact your doctor AGAIN if you don't improve or get worse.

Trust me.. if there were a sure fired cure for feeling bad from Lyme/coinfections.. or from herxing.. I would have found it.. and I'd be a millionare.

Now.. put on your Systemic Yeast Girl costume.. the one with the big "S" on the front... and paint all your toe nails differnet colors.

I DO hope you feel better soon!

Oh.. and the dancing man is below.. simply to amuse laserred.

It don't take much, does it?

------------------
If you get the choice to sit it out or dance...

Yes I really do! Thank you for the lovely award snd I'd like to thank all the little people resonsible for, (I don't know, sleep meds have kicked in and I have lines to recite, yet.)

I've never gotten an award before. It has all the thrill I thought such an occasion would have and am honored to share it with my parnter in ridiculousity and brain fog, the lovely hatsandscarf.

Personally I remebered to pick up my car today, although driving it may have bee ill-advised, but it was only a short distance.

A row of reciprocatng hugs copied from your post... enjoy them.

I love these hugs can I use them? (Thanks tincup you're a rip.) Oh, If they worked I already did.

I generally say ok and just deal with it. I believe that the worst the herx the better I feel after. I can usually cope, even if I need to take pain meds and advil to get through.

Thank you so much for the laugh, award and advice! I can't express how much this has helped to take the focus off flipping out. As well as cleared up a few things for me.

I'm just going to keep to water and lemon juice, that should be harmless enough and yummy. I drinnk boatloads of water daily.

I'd like to apologize for calling you a sneaky parrothead above

I only have to get through the next few days on a fairly even keel and it'll be alright.

I've gathered most of what I could and will present it all to Dr P on monday. She likes me and has always said repeatedly, even when I went to her like a raving manic, she would never give up on me. And getting me well would be a feather in her cap, I'm a personal challenge for her. She's a good doctor and a really nice person. I think some of the information I've compiled will help her, help me, decide what's appropriate to do.

Pieces will fall into place; the time feels right. Distraught though I may have been the last week or so; I want to thank you for shaking me out of my denial.

Even more hugs because I have them to spare and you deserve them.

Are you seeing any result from your recent treatment? I hope you are starting an uphill progression. Thanks some more.

Wow, I won second place! I didn't know I was that dumb but hey, it's nice to excel at something.

It's going to be quite a sight when trueblue and hatsnscarfs, (me) take our victory lap down the runway, trueblue with her 10 colored toenails (one Lyme green of course) and me dragging my car on a leash so I won't forget to take it home again.

Should true blue fail to fulfill her duties (as well she might since she's getting brighter by the minute)I am prepared to step up to represent us all in the halls of dummmest lymee scroo-upz. It's unlikely I'll get brighter in the near future since I'm still light sensitive.

I'll need TCs help figuring out how to get the tiara over my hat. Maybe the staple on my nose could help hold everything in place.

Now back to more serious things: does an epsom salt bath need to be hot. No, it doesn't although naturally you'll sweat more if it is. Actually I take that back, I'm sure some Lymies sweat more in cold water that other's do in hot.

The reason I know about not so hot baths is that on more than one occasion I've forgotten to get in the hot bath. By the time I remembered it was just kinda warm. I might have added hot water but forgot to. I remember soaking for quite a few minutes before getting the bright idea to run some hot water. My lukewarm baths helped. Just remember to run hot water in the beginning so the salts disolve.

Thanks for the needed laughs. Rib pain has been draining me.

Yep, it's me and you, truehatsnbluescarfs.

I'll help you drag the car if you don't tell TC that I'm not going to iron my outfit. It's made of that wrinkly fabric (ok, well, now it is after living on the floor of my closet scrunched under something).

BTW, how big a car are we talking about? Could my car pull your car, if I can find the keys? Mine's small but it's blue and that counts for something.

I was going to post on your thread about something that I went to put in the fridge the other day, which was sooooo wrong but can't remember what it is.

Thanks for the info on the baths. I was wondering, as people keep saying hot and the thought makes me even more nauseous and dizzy.

This thread made me laugh last night and took my focus off feeling as crappy ads I do. Always a good thing.

What kind of rib pain is it? The little muscles in between or the cartiledge between making them ache? Oh, or the kind the feels like a few are out of place? I might be able to think of something that's worked for me in the past.

I just can't think up all the possibilities at the moment. Narrow the field and maybe. We need to make you hug friendly.

After the lap I'll be tipping over, especially if I have to turn my head for any reason, and the hug will help hold us up. Or we both tumble and injure ourselves on the tiara and staples.

Trueblue,
If we've made it this far, I know we'll make it through our victory lap.

Is it dumber to lose a big car or small car? Yeah, I was afraid of that: big, really dumb.

I just started writing about rib pain but decided to cut & paste it into a new topic since I have a funny feeling we might not be the only 2 with this problem.

TC, Sorry I was late for the ceremony, I didn't even know I was nominated. Your call must have come when I was outside talking with the Publishers Clearinghouse people who unexpectedly showed up at my door with a photographer.

Thank you imanurse. I hope you start feeling better soon, as well. Thank you for the link to your thread I appreciate it. Hugs to you...

In actuality I had a rough day but am now running a fever. That hasn't happened in long time and I generally feel better afterward. I think raising my internal temp helps. It takes away most of the aches and pains. Yeah!

I usually run subnormal(96.8) so 100 is burning up, I'm hoping tomorrow will be better for it.
