I had Lyme two years ago and I have recently been experiencing the achyness again. It is possible to relaps after that long? Or is this something different or new? Maybe only weather related?

WELCOME To LYMENET

Here's more goodys! A typical response to newcomers.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. "Lyme literacy" means, first and
foremost, knowing how to diagnose the disease accurately. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.

I am not new to this board just have not been here in 1.5 yrs. I was very active on this board two yrs ago when I had the lyme. I have four spots on my legs. Two on each leg almost mirrors of each other. All four were bullseyed and I had to go to NoVA to get diagnosed because the doctors here in Cville said it was an allergic reaction to something that bit me. And that it could not be lyme because I had four of them and the likly hood of having four lyme ticks all bite at the same time was so unlikely.

At that time I had headaches, fever, memory problems, vision problems, back aches, speech and writing problems.

Once the NoVa doc got me started on abx it took 6 months and all seemed ok.

Now I look back and wonder if some of my digestive problems are not related to Lyme. And now with the constant achyness again.

How can you tell if an infant has it from birth. I gave birth 3.5 mths ago and now worry that I may have passed it on. Is there any way to tell other than testing?

It could be a flare, relapse, or reinfection. Relapse has happened to me twice since 1991 with almost 14 other years of good health in between!

Do you have a LLMD to go to? Were you treated for the co-infections? THe newest thinking on lyme these days is that you must treat the coinfections FIRST or the person will relapse even if they acheive health after ABX treatment.

Also, did you get a steroid shot or take oral steroids? These can cause a flare or relapse. Let us know and we'll see if we here can help point you to wellness again. You did it once, that is a good sign!

Yes you could be reinfected or you never got rid of all the cyst forms and its back or stomach problems could be other bacteria taking over take some acidophilis and get some diflucan from LLMD.

Need to replenish the right bacteria in digestive system didnt you say you were achey I would get back to a LLMD also get your baby checked according to what you posted in seekind Dr section.

And the links I posted can help lot of reading though good luck. again

hi jennygump...My llmd says i relapsed last year after 3 good years. I was back on track agin, but now different problems.

As far as your stomach problems...since i have had lyme, i have had nausea, gall bladder removed due to right upper quadrant pain(this was not caused by meds, as i was never on the drug that supposedly causes sludgy gall bladder) reflux and a ton of burping.

Now, as far as your baby, congrats! FUnny how you seem to be relapsing after the birth of your child, i had some minor sx come back after (3 months) the birth of my daughter. She is healthy. I was on abx and allicin on and off throughout my pregnancy, and on meds while nursing.

I did see Dr. J in Ct and he checked her out and checked my breastmilk and her urine to be sure. All negative. He did tell me that the most common symptom of infants born with lyme is reflux and spitting up their milk.

Dr. H in NY told me that this is usually the first sign as well. He told me "You'd know if something was wrong" But to put my mind at ease, i went and had her checked by Dr. j.

Dr. J did tell me also, that sometimes the sx won't show up until they are 2. So thats why i had her tested again recently.

Good luck, and i would contact your LLMD asap for yourself...jelly

Thank I will have to find a good ne locally. The doctor I went to the first time is up in NoVA and with a new baby and all traveling is not always the funnest especially when you are achy all the time.

I will check and see if I can find a good one close to me here. Two years ago I did not have any luck. Hopefully things here have improved.

Thanks All
