Hey..

I am neck deep right now in "bill" stuff.. and am researching too many topics at once with my slow brain.... but I have a request from a new LLMD... and need to get answers ASAP.

Does anyone know of any Lyme disease studies going on right now? Any details?

Thanks for responding.

I'll check back later...

There are two listed on the NIH clinical trials site

1. Evaluation, Treatment, and Follow-up of Patients with Lyme Disease

This study is designed to establish a population of patients with Lyme disease for evaluation, treatment and follow-up to learn more about the infection

2. Evaluation of Lyme Disease: Clinical, Microbiological and Immunological Characteristics

This study will determine whether patients who have been infected with the Lyme bacteria, Borrelia burgdorferi, and treated with antibiotics still have the bacteria alive inside them and whether it is causing their symptoms. The information from this study may serve as a basis for developing stringent diagnostic criteria for Lyme disease and the establishment of future treatment trials.

Individuals in the following categories may be eligible for this study: chronic Lyme disease; chronic Lyme arthritis; seropositive control (are infected with the bacteria that causes Lyme disease but do not have disease symptoms); recovered control (have been sick with Lyme disease but were treated successfully and are currently well); control with multiple sclerosis (patients with multiple sclerosis); and healthy volunteers. Patients in the chronic Lyme disease category must be between 13 and 65 years of age; all others must be between 18 and 65 years of age. Candidates will be screened with blood and urine tests.

Liz

Tincup,
I found a couple but they may be of no use to you. This one has not started and isn't recruiting yet.

SPECT Imaging of
Chronic Lyme Disease vs Other Disorders

the other is:

Developmental Delay and Lyme Disease
in Children: An epidemiologic study
(It's not on individual patients.)

I don't know if this is any help to you but I thought I'd give it a shot.

If they're something you can use: email me or post here if it's ok to link to it. (a little newbie uncertainty here )

You KNOW I am just funning with you.. right?

I don't want to come back facing a baseball bat!

hehehe

But it is GOOD you asked.. and I appreciate that.

I'll check in later.. gotta go get breakfast! This Lyme stuff is keeping me working overtime today!

But I enjoy it so much.

http://www.columbia-lyme.org/flatp/resstud.html

I hope just copying the link works.

My concern with linking was about the doctor's name appear. Although, I doubt he's one that minds. I love this guy. I volunteered for one of his studies a million years ago.

BOZO! Did you say BOZO? You just wait...um...well until I get my clown shoes on at least.

I don't think anything's being done here at the moment. Unless the LYME DISEASE SURVEILLANCE DATABASE continues, it looks to be being published from this page.

Hope any of them helped... I have to eat something before I fall over again, these clowns shoes are a challenge.

Hey, the brain fuzzy can do hyperlinks! Who'd a thunk?

Soooooooo.. fossil foot Bozo... I am surprised to hear that! And a bit concerned too, I must add.

Knowing NOW that you were his patient back then.. I can't figure out if ...

I feel more sorry for YOU...

Or HIM!

Actually.. NOW I have the whole picture! You.. the fossil foot Bozo.. and him.. the ice water surfer dude. TOGETHER?

The world will never be the same! YIKES!

I am actually surprised he is still taking Lyme patients after seeing YOU! OH MY GOSH!

He must have a heart of gold... or a brain the size of pigeon poo.

Anyhow.. thanks for the links. Like stink bug said.. WHERE do you people get these names?... I had never seen them either.

One more note..

The clown shoes go on the end that points down... NOT on your ears. I KNOW if you keep practicing.. you CAN get it right.

I wasn't exactly a patient, I participated in a research study, smarty pants!

In his defense:
I was in a rear end collision on the George Washington bridge on the way to the second half of the study.

The police never came and I drove there anywhere, because I couldn't figure out what to do.

He made sure I got to the ER. Mind you, I probably wouldn't have thought to do that myself. (I might have freaked him out a bit.)

Gosh and they were testing me for memory deficit. I may have been less trippy before the accident.

You mean the doctors? If so, that's the general area I'm from. Neither were my treating physicians, though.

See under my screenname the "from: somewhere other than here". I'm just temporarily stranded in the too hot place.

As a matter of fact Tintin, are you still here-abouts, so I can't come over and smack you in person? (I am of course kidding, since I can't neccessarily turn my head with out falling over, I'd probably miss anyway.)

She said..

"As a matter of fact Tintin, are you still here-abouts, so I can't come over and smack you in person?"

I am sorry.. Tincup has suddenly left the building.

But she did say... as she ran out the door... to tell you again that she was JUST KIDDING!

hmmm...if you're outside you might be easier to find. hehehe

The other person wearing the changes in latitude t-shirt.

Ah, nevermind you can't swing a dead cat in florida without hitting one of those.

(Oh and I'm allergic to cats so that method's probably out. I wonder if dead cats produce less dander?)

So you're safe for now, oh, tin one!
