All you picc-liners, where can I purchase
the "sleeve" that you talk about to cover area
for showering, etc?

I got both a xerosox and one from brown medical. The xerosox was WAY too tight for me! Even though it was the biggest one.

The one from brown medical worked great. It doesn't cover your hand, which I liked. It lasted the whole three months and was still in good shape, so could have been used longer.

I tried the Brown Medical cover first but the first one I got only lasted about a week (probably only 2 or 3 showers) before it ripped. Then they sent me a replacement since the first one had essentially "broken". The replacement lasted about the same as the first one so I got a Xerosox and it worked really well for me. It was a little tight at the top but nothing I couldn't handle for the 15-20 minutes during a shower. I also used it to take a few dips in the water over the summer when I had my PICC.

I've also heard there are new Xerosox products that don't cover your hand but I'm not sure where those can be found.

Jake & Jordan started IV antibiotics on May 20th.

I ordered the Xerosox PICC line cover, the one that does not cover your hand. I returned them because they were too difficult to pull over the PICC line. The wrist opening is very small. Their website is www.xerosox.com

I just received shower sleeves that I ordered from www.mar-von.com

The kids have not used them yet but they are much easier to use. For now, we have been covering the PICC line with vetrap and then saran wrap.

Home health care supplies large (very large) sleeves which cover your hand up to your shoulder. They are too awkward for my kids to use.

Most of the sleeves I have seen ...are easily shortened to fit...by scissors.

Since I was rxed rocephin by a duck, I only used mine for a month. I still have it- just in case. My grandson borrowed it to cover his cast, last year, and it was still okay- 5 or 6 years later

The hand on the sleeve is giant size. We would have to cut the hand off, so it's easier to use something else.

I agree. The way the xerosox is made, you really can't shorten or change it with scissors. So if it works for you, it's great. If not, better to return it. Wish I'd known you could return it.

And BTW, I don't have a particularly fat arm. In case you are wondering.

How about saran wrap all around and then put rubber bands at both of the ends of the wrap. This worked well for my husband.
