Hi: Thank you for the post troutscout, I was actually worried about that and had many a test for heart problems, they came out negative except for an irregular heart beat since I started on abx occasionally. This though is only when I take a higher dose of medication. I also have acid relfux which can feel like a heart attack they say. Also I will drink something and it feels soothing like I have a sore in my stomach, and lastly I have had tests in the past that have come bcak positive for an ulcer. So....... I am thinking maybe that the abx is aggrivating another ulcer. I wondered if anyone else had the abx do that where it was so hard on your stomach they felt that burning. I remember when I first started abx I had terrible burning pain in my neck and back and now its in my chest?
Hopefully that is all it is anyway. Thanks

I had really bad heartburn recently, the first time ever. It started when I stopped taking an anti-viral that my LLMD put me on just to keep any latent viruses from kicking in during treatment. She said that there are viruses that can cause heartburn.

I went back on the anti-viral and started an acid-reflux med. I noticed this med also has antibiotics in it targeted at H. pylori. No heartburn anymore.

That said, my LLMD tested all my digestive enzymes and I had a HIDA scan of my gall bladder just in case.

Do you have a good GI dr that you can consult? Sounds like acid reflux to me but I am no dr. Be sure to get it checked out though!

My husband has been diagnosed with costochondritis in the past. This is an inflammation where the ribs attach to the sternum. If this is your problem it will hurt when your press on your breastbone.

This is a fairly common Lyme problem. The first time it happened my husband went to an urgent care facility to rule out a heart attack -- that's how bad it can hurt.

It just depends on where the pain is as to what might be the cause and that isn't always so easy to identify.

MrsSam,

Can you describe the pain a bit more - does it stay on all the time - what makes it better or worse ? Does exercise make it worse? Do you have it at night/in the morning?

Hi: Interesting you would say that seibertneurolyme, I had gone to the doc he has diagnosed me with that a couple of times, I have had a mild form of it before I got diagnosed with Lyme, then after I got diagnosed and started abx I have had it so often, it really gets bad. The pain is ulcer like, burning etc, then it seems to go all over my chest. It can be dull or sharp, and radiates into my back, burning to a point of laying there crying hoping it will go away. If I back off the abx for a day or so it goes away.

Yes Nal you are right it does seem like acid reflux which I do have, but if it is it seems to burn me and imflame my chest or something as impossible as that sounds.

So thanks everyone for your help with this!
What would we do without this forum and others like it, go a little more nutty wondering what is going on I suppose.

I had that reaction when I tried to take ketek at the full 800mg dose. I'm 4/11, and most abx dosages are too strong. But the half-dose at 400mg 2x/day seems to work fine.
