Has anyone tried to order antibiotics from the pharmacy on the web that is from Mexico? I don't recommend treating yourself but what are your options if a doctor doesn't prescribe enough antibiotics and LLMD are not covered? Is it safe? Thanks

I believe it may be wise to share these sites by private email.

Hello,

Have you thought about the canadian pharmacies?

I just find them to be a safer option

I don't have any information per see on which one I could reccomend--but if you post another question, such as this--about the Canadian pharmacies--the folks here on Lymenet may e-mail you with some of their favorite sources

yankee in black...I agree with you but Canadian pharmacys have to have a prescription in order to buy...I am worried that my doctor that I have right now won't refill doxy because he only believes in the 3 week course and the other doctor I am taking her to Wednesday said basically the same thing on the phone. They don't understand Lyme disease enough. While it is risky to treat alone it is still better than nothing right? I am looking into samento and wormwood for co-infections right now...Thanks

I have, at times, heard that medications imported from Mexico may not be safe, that they have occasionally been found to be laced with dangerous chemicals. I don't remember where I read this so I can't vouch for veracity, but mention it only to caution you to do some due diligence in selecting a Mexican pharmacy if you choose to do this.

I did a google search of "medications+Mexico+pharmacies":
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=medications%2BMexico%2Bpharmacies

Here is, for instance, what About.com had to say:

Many seniors head south for the savings, these resources may help.
A 1998 amendment allows a United States resident to import up to 50 dosage units of a controlled medication without a valid prescription at an international land border. These medications must be declared upon arrival, be for your own personal use and in their original container. However, travelers should be aware that drug products which are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration may not be acceptable for such importation.
It is against the law not to properly declare imported medications to U.S. Customs. lt is important to have medications in the originally-dispensed container;

This pharmacy is in Cozumel, a popular tourist destination on the Carribean.
Centro Médico
This pharmacy is near a medical center just across the border from San Diego in California.
Progresso Mexico
This article does not have pharmacy listing but does include a map. Progresso is easy to get to from many Rio Grande Valley Texas cites. It is advisable to park on the American side a walk ove the bridge ( this will save a lot of time and agrivation). There are dozens of pharmacies along the main shopping street and even more on the side streets. These pharmacies are geared to the American shopper and prices are excellent.

PS The spelling errors are NOT mine. I am always suspicious about the source of information when basic words are not spelled correctly... Please do your homework when selecting a pharmacy.

Hi myskate
I have bought meds in mexico many times-
You do have to be careful.
The more expencive the drug-- the more
chance some one will try to pull a
fast one on you.
I grew up in El Paso --People buying meds
in Mexico is Super common--
If you stand at the border check for 5
minutes you will see several people
bringing back meds--The price differance
can be vary Large-- And the meds are made in the same factory and may be labled in
english- spanish or both--

That being said you do have to be careful-
walk 1 block in Mexico and look in the shops
selling Knock off --anything you can think
of-- and you will see my point--
I did get taken 1 time --
Meds were 100% Fake-- Puff $280 gone.
Search my posts --about 2 months ago
some asked same question- and I gave
a more indepth answer-- I do understand
the point you make about not being
able to get meds you need-
I have never
ordered from Mexico on line or phone ect.
Good Luck to you--Jay--

I know someone who did this, worked ok first time, second time wrong meds were sent, third time they were confiscated and the person was visited by a postal inspector and FDA inspector, told it was illegal to do this.

They might not put you in jail for this, but there are hazards.
