In NYS we have some of the best known LLMDs in the country.
Without this law they are all ALL at risk for losing their licenses. And most have already been targeted by the state.
The ripple effect throughout the country would leave many doctors afraid to treat chronic Lyme.
Also, all the medicial disciplinary boards like the OPMC belong to one national organization, and a win in NYS will embolden the boards in other states to go after LLMDs.
This bill will give all NYS doctors the right to protect themselves if the state disciplinary board (OPMC) tries to take away their licenses.
Right now they are not even guaranteed the right to submit scientific literature to defend the treatment choices they make.
For everyone with persistent Lyme or who might someday need long-term treatment: Fast-forward your life and think about what it would be like without access to an LLMD.
Yes, it could happen! Don't let it!
Make your call to Senator Bruno now and stay tuned!

Okay, Ellen, you make a good point. How do we call the senator, though? What is the number? Do we do a google for Senator Bruno's office in NY?
Thanks. I am sorry I am so ignorant.

Just called. There is a nice woman answering the phone. I explained about Lymenet and advised she may get similar calls. (She was wondering why someone was calling from Texas...)

7:20am I just called and got a pleasant woman on the phoe. For those who might be nervous about calling, I just said what Melanie and Ellen suggested (I'm calling to ask that the Senator vote to pass bill S5057a.)I mentioned that I and two of my children have Lyme Disease. She asked my name and phone number, and if we lived in NY (we don't). That was it.
I hope that it still helps, even if we don't live in NYS.

I called Senator Bruno's office, was transfered, but I gave her my name and told her I lived in MI. and I asked that Senator Bruno pass the S5057a bill. She didn't want any info. from me. Just wrote down the Bill number and said "ok thank you"
It was easy.
