Purple nails could be a vitamin B12 deficiency.

Bluish nails can be circulatory, heart or lung problems. Like asthma or emphysema.

Has your doctor noticed?

Sven

Can I ask a few other questions? Are your hands and feet pale or cold? Do you happen to have a bluish lace like pattern on your arms, legs and possibly torso?

If any of those other symtoms are present, then I'm thinking along the lines of possible circulation problems like Sven mentioned. Circulation problems are very commom amongst us. One that affects us more then the general population is ISAC Syndrome, it is a form of hypercoagulation. Might be something you just want to consider and of course talk to your doctor about:}

Could be a symptom of Raynaud's--when circulation in hands isn't working well. Does
this happen when you get into a cold environ-
ment? I find my fingertips shrivel up when I
am cold....like I had been in the bath tub too
long.

Take your temperature first thing in the morning. If it is below 97 you may have Thyroid problems.

My fingers and lips turned blue on a regular basis before they discovered the thyroid problem.
