Had ONE several years ago. Felt like I was going to DIE! I understand that you can have different drugs in the patches???? So I don't know if all duragesic patches are equal??

Thanks, My LLMD is wonderful and will answer any and all questions. I have no problem with having too little fat. Since I fell down with lyme my weight has incresed much to my dismay. I have to choose between the energy it takes to work out and the energy it takes to work. I have to make a living. I am hoping if we can control the pain enough I can start at least with some light yoga to get stretched out. The pill form of meds was inadequate. Ia m hping a dosage going in on a regular basis will help provide some kind of even levels. Blessings, Marblenose

I use both the patches and lolipopswith Fentanyl for several years. The manufacturer has constantly problems with quality control.
Last recall was on 75mcg patches.
I'm glag to hear, that thin peaople have troubles absorbing it - it goes through fatty tissue under the skin or cheek (between back tooh and gum).
I had to increase dose from 25 mcg to 200mcg when I lost some of my wieght (from 135lbs to 120lbs). Now I don't even have enough flat space on my body for 2 huge patches.
As my stomach can't handle most of the meds, this system is a blessing if you don't want to constantly pay attention to meds to avoid low and high. olipops saved my life several times.
By leaving some of the backing on the patch you can control the dosage, which comes handy, when you want to slowly taper the dose down.
Withdrawl is quite bad, mostly from doses around 200mcg. Hope you can keep your extra pounds - it will save you a lot of money and trouble.
Cost is outrageous, I hope your insurance covers it.
Good luck! Punkie

Thanks Punkie et al, I can't believe the difference with this patch. So far no breakthrough pain???????????? and I feel like I am almost among a normal level of pain you know the 1-10 range. I was a 97 for years I feel like a 7 -8 right now. What a blessing this is so far. Blessings, Marblenose

I tried the fentanyl patch. The first day was great and I thought I was all better. The second day I felt very weird and the third day I became very emotional and depressed. I think it set off a major depression which lasted three weeks. 3-10% of the people who use this have had it cause depression, according to the packet insert.
My daughter has one, functions better than I do because I think it controls the pain. She does well on it.
I am frankly petrified of the withdrawl and the dependence. It was also quite expensive.
