I used Holley Pharmaceuticals. If you call them, you can aksed for their published study on use of Artimisinin in treating Cancer and malaria.
From that, I extracted from the info, that the blood concentration level of Artimisinin drops precipitously after you are on it 3 days..to like 50% less!..
But, it only takes a 2-3 day break to be able to get maximum concentration in blood again upon restarting.
After reading the papers thoroughly (another interesting thing is they are working with treating Cancer by loading tissues with iron, and then using the high doses mentiones here, like 700mg..so the art may be attracted to the iron in tissue cells..if you want the Art to go to Red Blood cells..you lay low on iron when taking it...so it may be most attracted to the iron in the RBC's in blood, and not attracted to food or supplement particles in blood)
From the info, I decided to treat my refractory babesia (post 8 months mep/zith, 14 days Clinda/Quinine, and self applied Riamet)..
I decided I needed to finish it off in the blood...from wherever it was 'hatching' from..
so devised a protocol that I thought would best get it there, so as to lower the levels to the point where my immune system could handle it.
Some may need to treat tisue and blood...I couldn't say.
I did four days of the Maleria dose for my weight..
so: 100mg 3x a day
Then took a three day break, and went back on..
so on and so forth from there..for a few months.
(I still wonder if I should have just done three days on, 2 days off..also wonder if the dose could have been higher, but I figured the one effective in Maleria was good to try)
From what I read, it didn't make sence to take it the way it is normally prescribed..six weeks or even three weeks straight. But..I am not a Doc, just read allot and used it and tracked my symptoms and bloodwork.
(interestingly..I had fever rises for the first three days, that dropped on the fourth, which ro me illustrated the blood concentration drop off)
At that point, what did I have to loose? All protocols had failed, so I went a bit renegade on my own advise (but did inform my Doc)..and I wanted to maintain the progress from Riamet, which was clear, but not full resolve. I clearly had a drug resistant case after all the pharmaceuticals. Made for some strong and slippery parasites..I swear they were flexing their muscles at me..
I also took each dose with some fat..an avacado, or some cheese..something like that.
Tracking my fever...it seemed to be working, so just kept at it, and ate low or no iron foods in the days on Artimisinin.
It leaves the blood quickly when you stop it, I believe peak levels are like 2-3 hrs after you injest it.
I think it worked..this tx after I used Riamet first. No symptoms in a year's time.
I tried wrapping with an LL at one of the conferences about it (mine was very interested, but of course this was on my own advise and not prescribed by him)..
but I explained all this to another LL who treats babs, and I don't know how much mind I was paid..I think he just thought I was the silly singer at the conferance ..lol..
I think more people need to be studying Babs and Art and tweeking protocols based on the studies in other conditions..and the differences Babs has in disease sequele (sp?)
