Hi everyone,
I just got back from the specialist I'm seeing for Lyme. I told him how much worse I am since flagyl (1500mg/day). It's been a week since I stopped.

He told me that it's probably not a side-effect but he doesn't know why I'm worse.
I asked if I could be feeling a herx reaction and he said those last only a few days.

Can a herx reaction last longer? What do your LLMDs say about the duration of a herx?

Thanks.

SAK,

Everyone is different. 20% of people have no Herx but the antibiotics are working. Many people have them for a couple of days once a month, and others have constant Herx in different placed of their body. Everyone is different so you are good.

Hi SAK,

I herxed for the whole 9 weeks I took doxy. Then I went to ceftin and didn't herx till about 4 weeks. I'm on zithromax now and really can't say that I've herxed and I've been on it almost 2 months.

I will be starting flagyl in about 2 weeks and can't wait to see what that brings.LOL I've heard the herx can be pretty bad.

I just wanted to let you know that a herx can last longer than a few days. Everyone is different. Hope you feel better soon.

Take care,
Sapphire101

I was one of those people that herxed continuously on abx for over 3 yrs. It never stopped even with pulsing. IMO the abx became too toxic for my body.

It took 6-7 months of using rife treatments and herxing before I finally starting having good hours and good days.

I've come a long way. Thank God!

Take care, Pam

Depending on your load of spirochetes and if you only have one strain or are not infected with (other bacteria that can cause herx's theres only a few from what I have read)

if you have a couple of different strains of lyme that cycle at different times a herx can last or feel like several months because of the load at different cycles of the bacteria.

This disease is very complicated on its own now throw in one or two other strains and that are cycleing at different times and it gets very complicated even for LLMD's.

Its hard to keep up on everything that is published dont blame LLMD theres only 24 hrs in a day.

Answer in my case yes a herx can last more than several days. I herxed continualy for a little over three months then they got shorter and less intence and cycled every 28 to 34 days.
