I was on IV' for 10 months. I was given Primaxin and feeling quite well after two weeks they switched me to Levaquin at XMAS. I have never recovered from Levaquin. It cleared up my brain but destroyed my body. I have been in terrible physical pain ever since. It is as if the muscles ligaments and tendons in my body have lost their elasticity. My legs are constantly in spasms and my knees are very painful.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

I was on levaquin for 3 and half months and it took allmost a year and a half to recover from the sore muscles and torn tendons and I still 3 years later get a twinge and I know it was the levaquin caused.

But it dosent do that to everyone by the time I figured out what was causing the problems and got off of it after I called my LLMD and he said stop immediatly and gave me hek for not telling him about it I just happened to not read the papers that came with it which I usually did duh dum me at the time.

Mostly my fault.duh

Any way take cq10 and complex B vitamin Magnesium, glocosomine and move slowly and hot showers helped too. Time for your body to rebalance I know how much it hurts and dont do any lifting or fast movements stretch slowly.

Are you taking magnesium? Magnesium generally helps with muscles. Marnie is sort of the Lyment magnesium expert if you have questions.

Are the muscles incredibly tight? If so, have you tried a muscle relaxer? I had severe muscle pain that Levaquin actually helped. But I use Flexeril daily to keep my muscles relaxed. Once the Flexeril kicked in, then hands on physical therapy and stretching helped me progress.

Another note, I've heard that the damage can also occur for a few months after you stop Levaquin. So be careful with any strenuous exercise.

The worst pain of my lyme experience has come from levaquin...

I was on it for six weeks this Spring and was completely incapacitated with tendon pain. I stopped taking the meds two months ago and am still slowly recovering.

I am improving, but the achilles tendons are still tight and pulling on the bursa in my heels painfully.

Recovering from levquin induced tendon and muscle pain is taking much longer than I anticipated. Using a hot tub helps a great deal, along with pain meds and muscle relaxers. I also rub Arnica gel on the painful spots when I'm in bed. That is soothing and seems to help.

Which ever path you take to support your healing, don't overdo. Don't push yourself. It takes what it takes to get through this levquin stuff.

I'll never take this medication again. It was the worst pain that I have endured and pain and I are no strangers.
