Every month for 4-5 days right before I get my period my life falls apart temporarily. Neuro flare-ups are awful and it doesn't matter how well I'm doing with treatment. Once I get past the 5-day mark . . . bingo . . . I'm suddenly back to feeling marvelous again.

Makes me temporarily feel like psycho woman. Can you relate?

Oh hell yes. Except for the "back to feeling marvelous" part, unfortunately. I never feel marvelous, I only have bad days, less bad days, and horrible days.

My impression is that most female Lyme patients have issues with their menstrual cycles. Irregular periods, terrifying PMS flare-up of symptoms, incredibly painful cramping -- ah, the joys of being a woman with Lyme!

yes, this fluctuates for me. Used to be the last two weeks of my cycle, more recently it seems to be about 5 days before and a couple of days of beginning of new cycle.

Last month I skipped the bad week altogether for some reason which might have to do that I have/had improved quite a bit. But, obviously I'm not out of the woods because I'm having a terrible week.....much time in bed feeling exhausted, temp and twitching.

Really odd, but this month, my mood prior and present has been very very encouraging. I'm acting as kooky as I ever did with my little girl and having fun. i love these days that remind me of me at 100% (or at least 75%)

I've been doing the yeast free since I had a freakish, forgetfull and malabsorption spell 2 weeks ago. I do cheat, but am very cautious.

Prior to abx treatment, I was in so much pain... physically paralyzed and crying myself to sleep. But always so much more just prior to period.

This is common. I was thinking last night if there were a way to level out hormone fluctation. Maybe I feel good during period because toxins are being removed due to estrogen?

Maybe the spiroketes are just happy with all the estro floating around and don't bother us.??

Not only do I turn in a Witch with a capital B before my period. But also now I have found during my ovulation I have enormous mood swings. I am surprised I am still married!

That is the one symptom I don't have(low libido) Thats probably why I am still married (lol)

I think it has to do with the increase in hormone activity. Plus I have Hashimotos thyroid. It is always low. I'm on the the second highest dose they make.

Definitely. I am more prone to seizure activity the week before. It is good to
get more B complex into the body, and have
you had your progesterone levels checked?

Progesterone cream seems to tone down the
immune activity, especially if you are
estrogen dominant.

Menstrual cycle? What's a menstrual cycle? Oh, that thing I used to have once a month before I got Lyme disease. Oh yeah. Now I remember.

Thanks for the affirmations, I don't feel so alone now! Even before I knew I had lyme I could always count on one good day during the month and it related to my menstrual cycle. I tried to cram everything into that single day.

I saw a pituitary specialist last June and progesterone is low. However, he won't treat me with progesterone because I've had breast cancer. Anyone know of a natural product I can try?

I'm also perimenopausal so my symptoms have been much worse over the past 6 months or so. With the heavy bleeding, mood swings and pain that goes along with my cycle, I can't wait to be free of this. Thinking realistically though, that could be another 10 years . . . arrggghhh.

Menstrual cycle malfunction was one of my first symptoms following the tick bite. I hemorrhaged and had to have surgery to stop it within the first month after being bit. It's been the most constant problem for me.

minoucat, thank you for that great link! I'll have to return there on a monthly basis just for reassurance!
