I tried posting this in General Support too.

Does anyone here take Doxycycline? If yes, have you noticed an appetite change? Isn't it strange? Side-effect of doxy is loss of appetite. I have an increase in appetite!!

So, I'm freaking out. Here I am eating a lot more while I'm too sick to exercise so that I won't gain weight.

I know that a Lyme symptom can be loss of appetite-- that's me for years now.
It's just so weird to be hungry (and definitely not for veggies) after all this time of not being hungry ever.

Is it possible that some bugs are dying??

SAK,
I cannot really help you. I was on doxy for eternity (well, a year). My only symptom was a crazy migraine that I had for the entire duration.

Your apetite change could be due to the reaction of the bugs dying off. I did not experience that because I was put on doxy at too low of a dose and after I had CNS involvement, so it did not touch me.

I do know of someone who was on Doxy for a few weeks and had a big increase in apetite. He was all set after his round of Doxy and his apetite reaturned to normal.

I've been on all of the tetracylcine antibiotics (mino, doxy and tetra). My appetite increased significantly on all of them.

Sorry no appetite changes here. I was hoping to have less of an appetite. A few pounds of weight loss without having to think about it would be very nice.....Maybe I need to up my dosage. How much do you take a day?

You said you're hungrier...but definitely not for veggies. So does that mean you are craving breads, sweets, carbs?

Then it could be systemic yeast. Beware!

Hi Sak,

I had loss of appetite right after I was bitten in 2001, so it was a lyme symptom for me too. The doxy helped my appetitie to be more normal.

Good luck to you.

I'm moving up toward 600mg of doxy/day.

I've NEVER liked veggies. So, it's more of the same really. I'm just wanting food that's solid.

I have a history of sweet cravings, but not now surprisingly. My sweet tooth is practically gone. I'm just hungry for food...

I'm so confused about what this increase in appetite is about??? Side-effect is loss of appetite.

If it was candida-related then I'd be eating more foods that were just about yeast and not necessarily others, no? I'm eating anything. How could this be? Don't you think it's odd?

My appetite increased on doxy and increased even more on tetra. I craved high protein high fat foods like, meat, nuts, eggs...
