Has anyone had their urine get to be darker..not sure if orange ir the color, but darker. And it has this really weird smell to it. I am getting so scared over all of this. Please email me or respond. I am going to call my PCP when the office opens today. But it's only 6am right now and it has me shaking because I am nervous.

Don't worry. It may be something you ate-literally. Lots of things can discolor your urine. I did have it, and during Lyme it was some blood in the urine. That doesn't mean it is for you. A small amount of blood can make urine appear very dark. Go to your doctor this morning and they will test your urine. I had kidney involvement. After treatment it went away. Are you on antibiotics? Difficulty urinating-slow flow or urgency? It may also be a urinary infection. All are common with Lyme.Good luck.

If you have not been tested for the coinfection Babesia I would be. I have heard it can cause a darkening of the urine to an amber color.

Thank you, I have been adding up the amount I am urinating and it's like 75 oz a day. I am on a catheter. NOT GOOD NEWS!!! I am thinking I am in kidney failure or something. I am calling the doctor. My blood sugar is 96 so I know it's not that. I am so damn scared now. I am so thirsty, but show no signs of dehydration otherwise. Not sure this is related to Lyme now.

I had no idea you were on a catheter! Do you have flank pain? You would probably have flank pain if it was kidney related. Call your doctor right away. Let us know what they say, and how it turns out. Don't panic.

I have been having flank pain since March, CT scans are normal, urine shows normal kidney function (as of Thursday), had +2 for blood so I am on 1500mg of Amox a day. Waiting for the lab culture today. Maybe I have been drinking too much and it's causing me to flush nutrients out. I have been drinking like 16 glasses a day. I am going to cut back to 8 today and see if that helps. I am calling my PCP in an hour to go see him. As of this minute my urine is light yellow...so maybe it was Lyme related for the past day or like I said maybe I was drinking way too much water...and since my stomach isn't feeling good with the LD, I am eating very little. I am a little calmer now that my urine at least looks lighter. I hope the awful smell goes away, too.
Thanks again for your reply.

In my opinion (I am not a doctor) But it sounds like Babesia to me also. Dark urine and being thirsty is a symptom, along with panic and fear. I know someone with these symptoms, and when they were treated for babs, they all went away.
Try not to worry but tell your LLMD what you are going through.
Good luck Lisi

Thank you! I don't have an LLMD yet so that is why this is even scarier for me right now. I called my PCP and he wants to see me at 11:30. He called me himself. So I am going to talk to him about LD more. He doesn't believe that is what I have though he said if I showed improvement that he was willing to treat me for 2 months with Amox. I know I need something stronger. Anyway, I am going to ask for a referral to a LLMD today...thing is since she isn't on my insurance I need his signature as well as the reviewers in order to get all treatment covered. So it might be hard to convince him. My Mom is going with me today. I said I felt like I was living in a h*ll and he said "I agree...we have to find answers" so I am hoping that his frustration will convince him to let me see a LLMD instead of a neurologist.
Thanks again for your reply.

I had the same trouble as you in the beginning. I have an HMO, my gp said "you have all the symptoms of LD, but thats impossible, there is NO Lyme Disease in Michigan"
I then did the smartest thing, I left and went to an LLMD. I paid for it myself.
Amox isn't the best choice for LD or the co-infections. It does not cross the blood brain barrior (BBB) as well as other abx. Doxy or Mino work better, as well as others. Look at Dr. B's guidelines for treatment. If you want to fight with your PCP then bring them in.
Good Luck, Lisi

I'm thinking Babesia-ask the doc to order a Babesia microti antibody test- if you can't afford Igenex or MDL then use the lab your insurance uses.
Do you have a headache, fever, chills, nausea or lack of appetite?
I went to the PCP, my urine was +4 for blood and had alot of other "junk" in it. But he said he doubted it would come back from a culture as a "clean catch" since the one that I did on Thursday didn't and it suggested contamination. He said he wouldn't change my meds so I am still on Amox 1500mg/day despite my trying to convince him.
He said the blood might be from the catheter. He also said that my urologist report (from the cystoscope) said I had a narrowing of the urethra. I never had issues before with peeing...so unless the narrowing was maybe from the other procedures I had 2 weeks prior (with catheters, etc) I can't understand why that would cause me to all of a sudden be having urinary issues. Unless as others have said they had urinary retention problems and straining to pee with LD.
PCP said he would send a referral in to the reviewer and if they denied me he would try to get them to change their mind. He said he doesn't know if it is or isn't LD, but he would refer me...and in the meantime to continue the Amox...wouldn't give me the Doxy.
I get worried because the catheter comes out Monday. I mean what if it goes back to not being able to pee. I call on Monday to make an appt with the LLMD.
So....that is where things stand...

In response to your question...I have no appetite, nausea occasionally and sometimes a low grade fever, but not ALL the time. My reg temp is usually 97.5-98...and my temp might get to high 98's or 99. No major fever...haven't had a majorly high one.
