OK OK I have been posting for some time now and I have my results. The doc says it is positive but looking at so many of your posts I am not convinced. Can someone tell me what they think of these numbers, and what type of questions I should be asking my doc when I go again? My cd57 = 79 Igenex IGG and IGM reads like this: IGG IgM 18 ++ IND 22 - - **23-25 - ** - 28 IND IND 30 IND - **31 - ** - **34 IND ** - 37 - - **39 IND ** IND **41 +++ ** + 45 IND IND 58 + + 66 IND - 73 - - 83 - - **93 IND -
What do the double stars mean before the #? I am so confused as to what is what. Can someone help explain this ?

If I remember correctly, I think the stars indicate that that # of band is Bb specific, and IND is for Indeterminate (not highly positive but not negative either).
Is there any footnote on the IgeneX lab report?
Here are some notes from Dr. B's Guidelines:
"Western blots are reported by showing which bands are reactive. 41KD bands appear the earliest but can cross react with other spirochetes. The 18KD, 23-25KD (Osp C), 31KD (Osp A), 34KD (Osp B), 37KD, 39KD, 83KD and the 93KD bands are the most specific but appear later or may not appear at all. You need to see at least the 41KD and one of the specific bands. 55KD, 60KD, 66KD, and 73KD are nonspecific and nondiagnostic."
Your result shows a positive 41 band and a positive 18 band (specific for Bb). That alone, along with clinical history & symptoms of Lyme could indicate Lyme infection.
Plus you have some INDs on other Bb specific bands: 34, 39, & 93.

Thank you for your quick response. As you can see I have 41 - but IND on some of the other specified bands. On the result it say the IGG is negative but the IGM is Ind As mentioned, my cd57 is 79 which is why the doc said that as a combo it was pos. I am not so sure. I am not to see the doc until end of august. I don't know if the meds are doing anything....I do know that I have the 'feeling' of yeast so I guess I am somewhat discouraged b/c if its not REAL than why go through this? Yeast, diarrhea (sp?) , food modifications???
When the test says IND - indeterminate, what exactly does that mean? AUGGGH! Thanks

Basically, it's not negative. There was some reaction on that band, but not enough for them to call it "positive."

WOW Lymetoo that was a GREAT explaination! So much of what was written was what my doc had said but at the time I didn't comprehend. Now it is so much more understandable. Thank you for taking the time.

Lyme has to remain a clinical diagnosis. I had textbook Lyme symptoms knew I had it before the tests so did MD. Negative WB test, but positive LUAT and PCR. About 9 months later for the hell of it I asked for a WB again. Positive that time.

Thank you, Chris! You're right....that explains it all. Gotta give all the credit to Dr C of MO. He's got a great way of explaining things in laymen's terms. [Thank goodness...since we're all Lymies!]
I agree, Duke! Lyme is a clinical diagnosis.
