Hey Guys,
In adavance, thanks for the help! I am new here. I am Rob, 41 yrs old. I have been ill for a year, after working in a humane society. Millions of bugs, (ticks), all over me and the dogs. I got sick, (Profound fatigute, soreness, pain, weeks later, arthritis pain that was buring my hands off. Started Doxycycline six weeks after being sick, meds lasted six weeks, symptoms came back. Came and went over winter. It would hurt to shovel snow, elbows would burn. Now, today, past few months, legs are heavy, vibrating, shaking, weak, foggy, dont sleep well, enough, but broken sleep, stiff neck, tingling all over. Body spasms, all over, all day.
Does this sound like Lyme to you guys? I have failed every test, some place in NJ gave me a panel of tests, but did not test for certain things...
I NEED a great LLMD that can help me with meds, based on my sypmtoms for a year. Had a small rash in the begining, but no bulls eye, rash went away a few days later.

Any Help??????
Thank you,

Rob

If you find a doc that would write a perscription to test for a lyme IGG/IGM western blot test, call Igenex in california for a free kit to test. Bring the perscription to a lab and give them the kit. They'll draw the blood and it gets Fed Exed to them. Also test for co-infections, babesia, bartonella and ehrlichiosis. Is there a lyme group near where you live to find a lyme literate doctor. This site is great and has helped me much.

Good luck,

Cigi

Hi Rob:

Click on the "Support Groups" link on the left side of the page, and find the group near you. Contact them for referrals.

I know of one doctor, but I have heard that he closed his Boston practice and is only seeing patients on the Cape (Falmouth). Not sure if that is true, but my parents see him for the first time on Saturday, so perhaps they will learn more.

Email me if you would like info, and definitely contact your local support group.

Suzanne

You also might want to post your question under seeking a doctor also. Go to flash discussion and then select that option.

The tremors/twitching/muscle spasms you have described are very common with Lyme patients.

Prior to Lyme diagnosis hubby spent 1st 1 1/2 years going to neurologists who kept saying you do not have Parkinson's -- your tremor is too fast, it comes and goes, you shake in your sleep etc.-- so it must be anxiety/depression!

Now after 4 1/2 years tremors have progressed into seizure-like episodes. I judge how meds are working based on how much hubby shakes - 5 minutes or 5 hours a day. It is not always that obvious of course, but over time it is pretty easy to see if a med is helping or not.

Hubby does say that he often feels like he needs to shake even when he isn't visibly shaking. He has had numerous falls because of the leg weakness/tremors.

Because of the rash and your obvious exposure plus the symptoms I would think any good LLMD would diagnose you clinically. Also the response to Doxy is a positive sign.

Good luck.

Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. "Lyme literacy" means, first and
foremost, knowing how to diagnose the disease accurately. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead.
