I get these attacks at night. I haven't charted their pattern, but they do seem to cycle.

About a half hour to an hour after I fall asleep, I will bolt up with severe nausea, feeling like I will vomit. I sit in the bathroom awhile until my stomach calms down. I get such violent shakes that my foot will fly off the floor. I will have tachycardia at these times with a heart rate of maybe 120ish.

Do you have this? What the heck is this?

I've wondered about Babs. I have never tested positive for it. And one doctor said something about my haptoglobin level. (I don't know what that is, but I had a test that showed something, apparently indicating I don't have Babs.)

I'm looking for a new LLMD now.

I've heard of artiminisin, but I don't know if I could tolerate it (being so reactive), nor do I know how to purchase it, how much to take, whether it's safe with other meds, etc.

What think you?

Steph

Steph,

Sounds just like what my daughter was experiencing a while back. She would wake from a dead sleep throwing up with a VERY

fast heart rate. I took her in and she had an EKG and it was fine. She also experienced shortness of breath. Then the panic sets in This was when she was on

Mepron and Ketek. It got worse when her LLMD added Minocycline into the mix. She couldn't tolerate it and had to stop it after less than 2 weeks. She

does have Babs, along with Bart and two more, can't remember now. I need to drag out her test results.

I hope this helps just to know that you are not alone and others have simular symptoms. Sometimes it is just helpful to know you are not alone in this war.

I'm sorry, Icey, that your daughter has suffered.

It does help to know I'm not alone. We have solidarity!

I tested positive for Bart years ago.

My hubby has problems with nausea and dry heaves. The pattern of his problem has changed a little over the last 4 1/2 years, but he pretty much has nausea about 50 percent of the time every day -- sometimes more sometimes less.

The dry heaves used to wake him up every night between 1 and 3 am. There was a period where his episodes started with a dry cough and then went into the dry heaves and shaking (seizure-like episodes) -- it used to just be Parkinsonian type tremors.

Anymore he could have these episodes any time of the day or night but the most frequent times are between 1 and 3 am or between 3 and 5 am or 1 and 3 pm.

It is my understanding that 1-3 (am and pm) ties into the gallbladder cycle according to Chinese medicine and 3-5 is tied into the pancreatic cycle I think.

In my opinion I do think the gallbladder is part of the problem because of all the toxicity issues from Lyme and babesia and bartonella.

The other thing I think that is going on with my hubby is damage to the vagus nerve. This nerve controls the stomach, the lungs and the heart so that could explain your heart palpitations.

Believe me when I say that I have tried just about everything for this -- that includes meds, herbs and supplements. Nothing seems to do much good.

Sometimes ginger tea (1/2 teaspoon in a cup of warm water sweetened with stevia) will help settle hubby's stomach and help him go back to sleep. Ginger is an anti-inflammatory.

Unfortunately I have to use IV Ativan to calm down the shaking.

I do know that episodes are much less frequent when he is less symptomatic overall.

Oh, Bea! Your poor hubby. These are miserable diseases.

You're such a supportive wife. He's blessed to have you.

Interesting about the vagus nerve.

I'm so exhausted. It's almost 3 a.m. I will get ready for bed soon.

Steph:

I don't know what meds you are on so, can't say for sure if it is the meds or one of these hideous diseases. My shaking and nausea were so bad recently that my MD put me back on Mepron for Babs. The shaking has stopped. The nausea remains but, really is more a side effect of the Mepron for me right now.

Hope this helps.

This happened to me and to my daughter on tetracycline (and mino to some extent too), and it went away after awhile.

I appreciate your responses.

I should mention that I'm not taking any ABX. Long story. I haven't had "active" treatment for awhile. I've only been taking CSM (Questran) for supposed toxins. I've seen Dr. S in Maryland, the originator of the CSM protocol. He poo-poo's the idea that I have Lyme anymore, and he thinks I never had Babs.

I'm seeking out a new LLMD since my former one had to leave her practice due to illness.

I took Mepron with Zith once, only for three weeks. I did have Herxing on Day Four and Week Three. I do think I have Babs.

I have to start charting this nausea, etc., cycle. I know it follows a pattern, but I haven't identified it yet. When it happened this time, it was when my period began. Interesting....

I wonder if you could tolerate homeopathic
"nux vomica"? It comes in a little blue
vial which you can get at a Whole Foods
Market or other organic store selling
supplements.

They are tiny round pills that dissolve
under the tongue. They help me with nausea.

This used to happen to me about 8PM. I have found that when I was overtired my system just couldnt take it. I make sure I have a nap everyday, whether I feel I need one or not and also I believe the Colonics I received helped with nausea and eliminating toxins.

Hmm. Maybe homeopathy and naps would help. I always vote for naps.

I don't think I'll try the homeopathy until I see a new doc. I'm going through other changes, and I don't want much "confounding." I will consider it, though.
