If you see a doctor out of state and they prescribe IV abx, how do you go about getting the PICC line put in and arrange for a visiting nurse once a week? It's not like the doctor is at your hospital to prescibe it or has hospital "rights".
Can someone please explain this to me...
Thanks, Terri

For my kids, it took almost 2 years to find a home health agency that would take an out-of-state script.
We found one in May. Our LLMD sent the script to the home health agency. Home health contracted a company (PICC Stat) to insert the line at our house. They also sent an x-ray company to check out the insertion.
Home health provides the meds and they change the dressing once a week.
So, I would call to see if your local home health agencies will take an out-of-state script.
We live in MN and I think our laws about meds are stricter than a lot of states.
