Hi,

I just started taking doxycycline and I am wondering if I take a daily multi-vitamin if that will interfere with the antibiotic at all?

Thanks in advance for any info that you have!

Hello. No, a multi should be fine. My LLMD said vitamins did not really counter act with doxy. I would however space out any supplements you take by about 2 hours from the antibiotics.

Thanks Nancy,

I will do that, I am thinking that I need iron but I was afraid to take anything that would negatively affect the meds.

Take care,
Corinne

Hi Corinne

Do not take Doxi with any type of dairy-
Dairy lowers effect of doxi a bunch--

Also citrus can make the Sunburn
effect Much worse--Even small amounts
of citrus can cause this bad effect
and it can happen Fast-hours--
This effect is called -Photo Toxic-
Do a google--

--Take on time--Do not miss doses-

Fallow label directions--

I took doxi at 200mg a day for
6 months- not much good effect--

After dose was increased to 500 to
600 mg a day -I had much progerss--

Are you taking any supplements other than a multiple vitamin? If not, and if your LLMD hasn't suggested any, take a look at Dr. Burrascano's Treatment Guidelines. The supplements are critical, right along with the antibiotics.

This is an abbreviated version in the 2004 Guidelines.
SUPPORTIVE THERAPY
. NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT
- Blend of multivitamins, B-complex, CoEnzyme Q-10, and magnesium
- Essential fatty acids
- Low glycemic index, high fiber diet
- Absolutely no alcohol
. MANAGE YEAST OVERGROWTH
- Oral hygiene, acidophilus/yogurt
- Low carbohydrate diet

Very important....take a high quality (refrigerated) probiotic daily, at least several hours away from when you take your antibiotic.
