I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago and may have had Bb and HME for 8 years. I have done well on doxycycline so far with just headaches but after 1 week am starting to have more joint pain and skin sensations. Is that possible that this is part of the herx?

Thank,
Scott http://www.BetterHealthGuy.com

After 3 days of Biaxin, I started having pains in my knees, which I didn't hardly have before. I think lyme likes the knees, so what you are saying sounds plausible to me....

Thanks JB. I am definitely having more headaches, feverish feeling (which I never get) and more joint pain (which is usually under control). Thanks for the confirmation.

Best,
Scott

HI
My primary symptoms are skin burning and twitching.

I had no joint pain until the 28th day on Doxy.
Woke one morning and my knees hurt so badly I had a difficult time getting out of bed.

So to answer your questions-YEPP
Peace,
BJG

Scott,
I'm not much further along in treatment than you (just 7 weeks on oral abx). I have been carefully charting my symptoms and can see a definite pattern with my treatment.

My LLMD increased my abx each week in the beginning. I noticed that a day after that, I would start to herx. Also again at 28 days -- that herx involved completely new and different symptoms and landed me in the ER.

As far as arthritis, my primary symptom was arthritis, and I notice it gets a lot worse during the herx periods. My knee gets so swollen, and during the 28 day period, my whole leg swelled.

Hope this helps!

I strted treatment in Jan last and in April i started to have a lot of pain in my left knee. This was a constant pain but it could have been worse with herxes. I have been on oral abx ever since and I am very happy to say that since two months ago my knee pain is as good as gone! Just once in a while my knee hurts.

Quite remarkable (I think) is that my left ankle started to hurt around that time. This took about 6 weeks and now my ankle is more or less fine as well.

And now my joints in my hands (mostly left hand), where the thumb connects to the rest of the hand, hurts. It is like the abx is taking care of it joint-by-joint.

Sounds like a pretty common reaction to me. After 4 weeks on Doxy, my first course of treatment, my joints and muscles ached so bad. I also got a splitting headach and then I started having cardiac symptoms and went to the ER.

I am on Bicillin now, almaost 3 years later, and I get achy joints, muscles and headaches about 30 hours after my injections.

Some day this will all go away and we will all be able to wake up and say, "today is going to be a good day".

Chin up.

Bc
