Hi you are not done with treatment you need way more than doxy for 21 days get a LLMD .
Hi and WELCOME! Get a LLMD or at least Dr that is willing to learn about lyme. "Lyme literacy" means, first and foremost, knowing how to diagnose the disease accurately. Borrelia Burgdorferi is a clinical diagnosis, based on symptoms and on your response to treatment. Good Luck, bumpy road ahead. I'm so sorry that both of you are having problems with Lyme disease.
myrna55, welcome to LymeNet. There's a lot of reliable info for new members.
According to recommendations by Lyme Literate Med Drs (LLMDs), your treatment for Lyme was not long enough. What was your dose per day for Doxycycline? 200 mg a day is the typical dose, but LLMDs recommend more.
The International Lyme & Associated Diseases Society has info you should read. www.ilads.org click "Basic Info" #10 begins: "There has never.....been one study that proves even in the simplest way that 30 days of antibiotic treatment cures Lyme disease." www.ilads.org/burrascano_1102.html "Diag Hints & Treatment Guidelines..." Print a copy & read it several times. Has 32 pages of great info written for drs to use & patients to learn about Tick-Borne Diseases (TBDs). Too much for just one reading.
About page 16: Antiobitic Choices Doxycycline: Adults - 400 mg/day with food
Treatment should continue until ALL symptoms have been gone for a minimum of 4 weeks. Many LLMDs are now treating for 6 to 8 weeks (after symptoms are gone) just to be sure.
I recommend that you have an evaluation by a LLMD. It may be necessary to travel some, but it is definitely worth the effort to get the care you need. (My father & I had to travel to New Jersey.)
Go to "Support Groups" on the left & ask for names of LLMDs near you.
Go to "Seeking a Dr" here on LymeNet & put your location in the title. Info about Lyme drs will be e-mailed to you.
If your dr prescribed 21 days of antibiotics & now says that you have CFS, then it is not very likely that you'll get what you need.
How long do you think you've had Lyme? Did you have the bull's eye rash or have a positive LD test?

Since I'm not a dr, I would not want to tell you which antibiotic to take.
However, I will say that IF you have Ehrlichiosis along with Lyme disease, the Doxycycline would be the abx of choice. I believe I've read that 200 mg/day is sufficient for Ehrlichiosis, but not for Lyme.
In Dr B's "Diag Hints...Guidelines" read about Ehrlichiosis (page 23) under Co-Infections.
I don't know much about Augmentin for Tick-Borne Diseases.
By all means, see a LLMD - ASAP. The earlier the treatment, the better the results, but ONLY IF treatment is strong enough & long enough.

The symptoms for Ehrlichiosis & Lyme are so similar, it's difficult to tell them apart. Some people have both. Others only have Lyme. Then there are some people who have several Tick-Borne Diseases at once.
A little info about responding - You know how to quote what the person says & add your response. But if you do not need to quote, look at the top & bottom of the page. Click "Post Response" & type what you want to say. It won't include the quote.
Hope you can see a LLMD soon.

Good job, Myrna!! Did your LLMD come with several recommendations of other Lyme PATIENTS? YOu want to hear from happy satisfied customers before committing to a particular LLMD.
Some drs SAY they are LLMD's when they aren't. You must have someone who will treat you until your symptoms are GONE for at least 2 months.
Continue reading here so you will know what to expect and what you need to advocate for your own care.
PS....you can reply by clicking on "POST REPLY" rather than the quote icon.

Just want to add a few words to the good advice Miss TuTu gave you.
The best way to find satisfied customers is through the Support Groups & people here on LymeNet who have had a good experience with a LLMD.
I know nothing about the clinic you have an appt with, but unfortunately, a lot of clinics SAY they're Lyme experts when they're not. There are a few exceptions, but not many.
Generally speaking, the opinions & recommendations you need would not be available by asking the clinic. They're selling a service, so they'll have a good opinion of their work.

Myrna, You can go to Seeking a Doctor and ask in the subject line...."Anyone seeing Dr G in [state] or [city]" Use whatever initial is appropriate.
You can also click on "support groups" to the left of this screen and get help there. We don't want you to waste money on a dr who will not treat you after 3-4 weeks.
[This happens all the time, believe me.]
