doctor sent copy of lab results form quest but I dont know what it means? I know she said everything was negative. Under teat name IGG WB they have all the following bands lis4ted 18,23,28,30,39,41,45,58,66,93, and then next to each is my result non reactive. Then IGM WB 23,39,41 say non reactive too. Any comments.

all I know is that Quest is unreliable for Lyme testing. Are you working on getting a test from Igenex?

How to interpret?

Light a match.

Then get a test done at IgeneX.

Those numbers listed are the bands that the CDC considers when determining whether a western blot is positive. For the IgG to be positive, 5 of those bands you listed would need to be reactive. For the IgM to be positive, 2 of the 3 bands you listed would need to be reactive.

Quest sucks...I agree with lymeinhell.....

however...somewhere on the result is a paragraph or two explaining that "negative test results should not be used to determine whether one has lyme disease or not" "A clinical diagnosis is needed by your clinician"......cut this out and enlarge it and hand it back to your duck......

Burn the rest................zman

Now, now, guys, I test positive at Quest. At least my ELISA and lyme specific bands on the WB. It keeps my llmd happy.

If your doctor will diagnose clinically then lab work is only supporting.

The only thing about Quest is make sure your local lab uses Certified Lab Techs. Each Quest is differant. Some use only temp. employees hired by a temp agency with no experiance.

Notice your test is missing the results of two very important antigent reactions...#31 and #34 (Outer Suface Protien A (OSPA), Outer Suface Protien B (OSPB) )

These outer surfaces of the Lyme Bacteria used to be tested for, and were the first to sero convert. However, due to the failed vaccine which was made of OSP A and OSP B, they removed those two because people were showing exposure, if they took a lyme vaccine.(antibodies were there...)

Personally, I think that all bands should be checked, and only omitted if the vaccine was given, but I havent had much success in swaying the ducks.

The "snap" test for Lyme Disease is not as good as the one custom run by two lyme disease specialty labs.IgeneX and MDL both test FULL SPECTRUM of lyme disease.

I dont post here much anymore, in the future you can find me at LymeNews.com
