Can anyone offer any insight or refer me to comprehensive studies on the risks of breastfeeding if you are a chronic Lyme patient? I do not know if my baby is affected yet (not scheduled to be born for 2 months), but we are hoping he is born Lyme free (of course!)! I want to breastfeed, but only if it is safe, and I know it is very controversial..... any experiences or info you can share is helpfuyl - thanks!

IMHO - if it can be passed by blood, it can be passed by breastmilk. Why risk it.

When it comes to your baby's health, I wouldn't risk it.

The website for Bowen Research Lab says:
"Bowen research has found the Bb antigen in whole blood, breast milk, placental tissue....."

Are you on any antibiotics to protect the baby from congenital Lyme disease?

If not, have your dr consult with Dr J, the Lyme Pediatrician in CT.

It's VERY important to know about -
1. treatment needed prior to the baby's birth.
2. if he recommends testing for Lyme when the baby is born (Ex; placental tissue).
3. which lab he recommends for testing.
4. breastfeeding when mother has chronic LD.

Read what he wrote about "Children of L.D." www.wildernetwork.org/LDpediatricfund.html

If you need his phone number, I'll be glad to e-mail it to you.

When it comes to your baby's health, you definitely need to err on the side of caution!!
