I was taking a detox bath today...using salt and baking soda. I was pondering the meaning of life, the universe, and everything (read: bored out of my skull) and decided for kicks to just sprinkle some salt on my arms.

So there I was, looking for all the world like I had been snowed on.

After awhile I rinsed the salt off and all over my arms were these red spots. It wasn't an irritation from the salt. They were spots and in some case more welts. They didn't hurt at all.

As soon as I washed the salt off, the red spots started to fade back into my skin. It really looked like something creepy was surfacing on my skin.

I immediately jumped out of the tub (climbed agonozingly slowly with some huffing and puffing), and ran (shuffled) to the kitchen to try and find more salt to see if I could bring these suckers more to the surface of my skin.

Alas, we are out of salt.

Has anyone else had this happen? Any thoughts?

I have to say it is making me consider the salt/vitamin C protocol.

Alison

Hi Alison,
How interesting!
I posted about the Salt/Vitc protocol a while ago and salt baths were mentioned -I think! http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/036418.html

I'd like to give the protocal a try but I'm having problems getting the salt tablets over here in the UK.

Perhaps if you start it you could let me know and I'll give it a go at the same time(I'll have to use sea salt, I think). It would be nice to have some company on the scary journey!

I'm off to have a salt bath!!!

Hi Triple M!

I know what you mean about it being hard to get the salt tabs. I was in Canada (just moved back to California) and it seemed hard to get them there.

I do also recall reading that it is important to use the salt tabs, not sea salt, Himalayan pink salt, etc. Not sure if this is true.

I think I will at some point try the salt/Vit C protocol. However, I think it's important for me to clean up a bit of this candida first.

The reason for this is that with the vitamin C, bowel tolerance is extreeeeeeeeemely low right now, due, I'm pretty sure, to the candida. I need to be able to get more Vitamin C in my system I think before I start with the protocol.

But I will for sure let you know! I am really encouraged by what I saw on my arms today. It was like the little monsters were literally being drawn up and out of my skin by the salt. I wish I would have had more salt to keep trying, but I will get some more and do a little experiment.

I'm just excited that salt seems to irritate them to the point where they feel my body is no longer a hospitable environment. Yeah-hoo-wahoo! I hope the door doesn't hit their little buggy bottoms on the way out.

Cheers,

Alison

Hi Alison,
I did put some salt in my bath but I only had some really expensive rock salt so I was too stingy with it for it to do any good!

Yes, I think I read that it was important to take the salt tablets and to use sea salt as a last resort. I'm going to have another search on the web.

I suppose that for a bath you could just use cooking sea salt- my partner is a chef so he gets large quantities of it from the wholesalers. That's lucky, eh!!!

Have you tried threelac for the candida? It's miserable trying to get rid of it- the stone age diet was the worst thing for me but I think that I'm just about free of it now- Even after a couple of short stints of antibiotics.

I take the low acid or buffered Vit C- that seems to minimize the rushing to the loo! Mind you, not quite sure how my system would cope with twelve of them in one day- as advocated on the Vit C protocol.

Oh yes, wouldn't it just be great to see the little varmints being expelled- what joy that would bring!

Byee, MMM

MiMoMa,

That's a good idea. I wonder if there are restaurant supply places that sell the salt in bulk. (See, I was watching Oprah at 3:00 AM and they had someone on who said it's way cheaper to buy kitchen stuff from there).

I think I'm going to hold off on the Threelac, for me the reviews are too mixed. I'm going to see how the diet (don't think about chocolate...don't think about chocolate...don't think about cho-dang!) goes and also I am taking caprylic acid, oregano, olive leaf extract, coconut oil, and garlic...all for candida.

But when I get my ton 'o salt I will perform my next experiment and let you know!

Hello Alison,
Ummhhh, raw carrot V chocolate.....just keep thinking it's not forever. You're doing all the right stuff so it should work!

Over hear we have a wholesalers called 'Bookers', in France it's 'Metro', not sure what the US equivelant is. Our wholesaler isn't that cheap compared to normal supermarkets- some things are quite a lot more expensive, you pay more for the conveniance of buying large quantities. Cheeky so & so's!

I'll let you know if I see any bugs running down the plughole....
Love, MMM

This is not medical but it is related to chocolate so it may count.

Melt 3-4 tablespoons of coconut oil,
add 2 Tablespoons of powdered cocoa or carob(kind withour sugar)
and add a couple packets of sweetener (i use stevis plus)
Mix well

Will look like chocolate syrup at this point

Pour in a lined pan or muffin cups and put in freezer for 5-10 minutes. Break apart and you have chocolate and an anti fungal in one.

I also add unsweetened organic coconut flakes to the mix or chopped raw almonds and then freeze.

It is very melty if left out of freezer for long.

Candida icecream

freeze berries

Add frozen berries to food processor and blend, add a few packets of sweetner, blend then drizzle in either (water, coconut milk, cream, or almond milk, yogurt, kefir) just till it blends and looks like ice cream.

I have dreamed about what rasberry would be like with little bits of the chocolate in it. Hmm that may be worth getting off the couch for

Hope this helps, food should taste good!

Hi Niki,
Well done for the recipes! Perhaps we should have a food dedicated discussion group- it's such a vital thing! Did you make your recipes up or find them somewhere?

I hasten to add that I don't spend all day watching this site- although it is addictive. I sell on ebay so while I'm writing my descriptions (which is pretty boring) I tend to hop back and forth from this site to ebay. 'Activity displacement' I think it's called and I'm sure all Lymies know that one!

Niki,

You are a goddess. What a fantastic idea! I just made the coconut/chocolate bar thingies. YUM! The only thing I had a hard time doing was getting the darn Xylitol to dissolve.

Thank you for the idea!

I hate to bring a downer on your chocolate recipe Niki but I remember reading in a Candida book that sweeteners were as bad as sugar for Candida, might be worth checking on?
