I am a newbie here... I am a 40 year old new mom who was diagnosed and treated about 5 years ago (many different oral antibiotics and then ultimately IV treatment) My question... In the past two months or so (after the birth of my son) I have been feeling many of the symptoms I had years ago...Now I also feel the sensation of bugs crawling on me (ankles, toes, wrists, fingers), my memory is alarmingly bad, I find it nearly impossible to concentrate on anything and my hearing seems to be worse... I haven't been involved in any networking before, but I was wondering if you all get any of these symptoms??? My chiropractor has ordered blood work for lyme, lupus, rheumotoid arthritis... any comments would be much appreciated... Cindy Posts: 6 | From Milford, PA, USA | Registered: Sep 2005

It really depends on how long you were treated for Lyme to begin with. And how long you had Lyme previous to treatment. If you were only treated for 4 weeks, the abx probably didn't eradicate it.
Lyme can go into cyst form and hide from your immune system. It can then come out at a later date.
In my opinion if you had Lyme before and you are having systems again (and your probably having more or worse symptoms now) you probably never killed it the first time around.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck..... its probably a DUCK.
Get a good lyme literate doctor, get tested again through Igenex Labs, and get treated long term.
Good Luck, Lisi

One of the things that they've found about Lyme disease is that it can sit dormant or your immune system finds a way to keep it under control for long periods of time.
Many people have had a stressful experience (car accident, surgery, child birth) and have their Lyme come back. This may be what you are experiencing.

Pregnancy naturally lowers your imune system as you probably know, which is what allows your body to accept the baby.
Childbirth then aggravates an already diminshed body with stress and trama.
Also if the lyme has affected your hormones such as thyroid you are no longer sharing the babies and a depletion which could have been excused as tired normal pregnancy is now exasperated by trama and lack of sleep that comes with a new baby.
Make sure you get treated because it is vital to enjoying this time with your baby,
Remember to always take care of yourself because that is the best gift you can give to your child.

Congratulations on your new baby! Thats wonderful! Well, sorry to hear you are feeling "Lymie. " Pregnancy and childbirth tend to trigger it, and if you still have it, it can really make you crash after you give birth. Where are you located? if you can, email me ASAP and I will try to help you get in to see a good Lyme doctor. A good Lyme doctor will fix you right up. It is also very important that you have your child tested for Lyme. I believe most Lyme docs do a 3 sample urine collection test through IgeneX lab. Normally, when you know you have Lyme, you treat it throughout your pregnancy with safe drugs like Amoxicillin. When the baby is born, the cord blood and the placenta are tested for Lyme. I know, that was months ago. Well, now it would be a good idea to get yourself and yoru baby checked out. Please make sure you go to a true Lyme doctor, and not just a general doc or infectious disease doc, they don't know what they are doing. Email me and I will do my best to help you.

Cindy,
Im so sorry you're going through this. As I sit here typing, the tips of my fingers are numb. My feet and legs are also numb. I often feel as if I have something crawling on me, and I get really startled.
I've only been on abx for 3 months, but I've got many of the neurological symptoms you talked about.
Just know you're not alone!\
