hi everyone,
i hope you guys are making the most of the day and getting through it the best you can.

i wanted to know if anyone has seen a therapist, counselor, or psychologist (in the northeast area) that deals with neurological lyme patients or has any experience with lyme and how if affects people. any experiences or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

anyway, i am trying to weather this horrible pain in my head and keep myself busy, so i don't fall into the trap of feeling sorry for myself. i find that taking some type of action to help myself, keeps me go'in.

take care,
b'ocean

I think it's a good idea! I don't know of anyone in the Northeast though. I got some help from our former pastor in Texas when I had to retire on disability 11 yrs ago.

It helped alot. Our former pastor was also a licensed psychologist and I enjoyed out sessions.

Hope you can find someone there!

Hey blueocean, Nope i dont of anyone, but i am using my pastor as well. I am although trying to teach a new psychiatrist here about the disease and how it affects people mentally.
If he doesnt do his homework and just puts me on more drugs, i will pass him by. This is what i did with my previous psychiatrist.

Also, if anyone has peer-reviewed articles mostly, but any would do, give me a post back. I do have the main ones that Lyme.NET has but am looking for others.

Good Luck, and i try to do things for people to help me forget about this crud.
Good luck and God bless, Lemonhead

Check out the new website of one of the best known Lyme psychiatrists. She was a Lyme patient and also had coinfections. Don't remember where V.S. is located but there is an email address in the upper right corner on her website home page.

I really enjoyed reading about meeting Dr Herx 46 feet under water.

I wish my hubby had found her about 4 years ago when we were making the rounds of the psych wards before Lyme diagnosis.

blueocean,
If you go to ILASD, and click on Press Room.
Read: Lyme Disease: A hidden disease.
WPRI FOX

She does not take any insurance. I had a phone consult with her,and she is super nice.

She doesn't just do meds.. She works at behavioraspect also.

I couldn't afford to go, but if I had the money...she'd be the one!

If you call she likes to speak to the person before you can set up an appt..
It sometimes takes a while.
Hope that helps/1

I know of three folks. It really depends on where you are. The "northeast" is mighty big...

Hi Durameter,

We live north of Boston and are looking for a decent therapist.

Are any of your 3 within a resonable drive North of Boston.

You may send me a private e-mail.

Thank you
Wizard
