Diagnosed w/ Lyme, started treatment three weeks ago (3500 mg amoxicillin per day). Five days ago started minocin in addition to the amox.

The brain fog is back big time the last two days (after getting better shortly after starting treatment) ...I forgot where I parked my car this morning, and I just can't seem to concentrate. Plus I'm very angry and depressed, having really bad thoughts. I seem very anxious about everything, and I can't seem to relax. Can someone help me? What is going on? Is this a herx?

Sounds like a herx to me. Also I find if I do "too much" the next day I'm confused.

For instance I worked 3 days and on my day off I can't drive... too dizzy.

Alls I can tell you is it does get better. It goes up and down like a roller coaster ride. The ups get better and longer.

I've been on meds since Jan. 05.

Feel Better,
Rest more.

Heather

Sorry to hear you are having such a rough go of it. I can tell you though every time I start a new abx on day 3 the herx starts and that has at times meant many old symptoms and new ones.

It usually has gotten better within a couple of weeks and then I feel great. Hang in there!

Hey jay

I felt i needed to respond to your post because i am going through the same exact thing...except on different meds...

I get horrible brain fog, seems worse then it was before treatment..

I have neuro lyme undiagnosed for about a year and a half...i started treatment on august 2nd...

Im now about 4 weeks almost 5 into treatment, im on rocephin IV 2 grams per day and zithromax 250 mg oral every other day...

Its knocking me on my booty...big time. I am also anxious about everything, i cannot concentrate at all or sit down and try to do something cause i'll get too frustrated.

I am depressed too...its either im having hyper outbursts or crying..either one.

I was put onto an anti-depressiant for the time being yesterday, i hope it works, since i was threating to kill myself almost daily because i dont want to suffer anymore.

I know how hard it is, this is my first treatment as well, and it is very aggressive as you can tell.

We will get through this, it gets worse before it gets better and its also hard for me to keep in mind that there IS a light at the end of this horrible tunnel...

Hope i helped in some way...

Huggs

Jay,
A herx is the likely cuplrit. I get good symptomatic relief from these by drinking Detox Tea made by Yogi Tea co. of Eugene, OR. You should be able to find it in a helath food store. For some reason, the Peach Detox Tea that is also made by that company is much less efective, if at all. Hang in.
