Hi all - figured out this week I can't tolerate primaxin so today we changed to IV Unasyn.

Anyone have experience with this one?

Anything I should be watching out for? Any good stuff?

I appreciate any feedback you can give me!

Thanks!

Sorry but I can't help with the Unasyn question -- did a search for you, but no help there either. Obviously this is not a popular antibiotic.

I do have a question for you regarding the IV Primaxin. LLMD would like hubby to do this, but have been putting off doing IV's again for financial reasons. What type of symptoms/herx caused you to stop the Primaxin?

Hubby had to recently stop Rifampin for the second time -- lasted 10 days 1st time before neuro side-effects (mostly increased tremors) got too bad. Lasted 15 days 2nd time at 1/2 dose, but too many G.I. issues and elevated bilirubin with addition of low dose doxy.

Was the Primaxin the only antibiotic you were on?

Thanks,

Bea Seibert

I had 5 days IV Unasyn in 1993 when I ended up so sick in the ER with a 'mystery illness', which I now know of course, was the illness I still have........

The Unasyn saved my life, but did not cure me, obviously not long enough.

I had no problems with it though, the only thing I remember is having very foamy pee!

Thanks for the input!

Bea - This was by far not my first abx - I've been on IV rocephin & Zithromax too. Primaxin made my whole body itch one spot at a time, Thrush + all my original symptoms -
joint pain, fatigue, brain fog, tingles in extremities.

LLMD changed because I just didn't tolerate it well.

Good luck with Hubby - let me know how things work out for you!
