Please vote yes or no.

Would you like for TreePatrol's Newbie Help Links 9/7/05 to be made a feature topic?

See http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=029917

A YES vote means that the Newbie Help Links thread would permanently remain at the top of the medical forum and people would not have to keep posting to it to bring it to the top. Only the moderators can make a topic a feature topic.

We've begged for something like this for years. Maybe now they have the capability to do this.

One thing suggested was to permanently put the links at the top of page 1. That link would never move.

I vote yes....but if they could include all helpful links there, that would be even better.

A definite YES as long as Tree is able to update as necessary and is willing to continue all the Great Work.

Lymetoo,

How about 2 feature topics -- Newbie Links Short Version (such as your list or something similar)

and Newbie Links Long Version (Tree's list)?

All the info on Tree's list can be overwhelming at first.

I agree with the "overwhelming!" But all the links could be put in one post, just like I posted.

Perhaps tree could make a condensed version [short version as you said], then the long version, then the others.

YES, a main heading on top of 1st page of medical, support, computer, etc.

Yes, as long as tree is able to edit as needed.

Also, a few changed I'd like to see done with his long list is this:

Tree, you show many folks' names vs. a web site, etc. Could you expand that so everyone uses their time to their advantage?

examples:

. Marnie's posts .... nothing what is in each of these.

I'll come back & give more later after looking at tree's list tomorrow.

Nice idea. Plus it will take up less server room in the long run since it won't have to be attached to every email for a newcomer.

Tree,

here are a few more changes I'd like to see since you are constantly updating your wonderful list of sites.....

  • 1. Would you put an ** at the beginning of the NEW link you have added so we can know what specifically was added?

    2. I know the "yellow & white" colors do not show up for me; don't know if others can not read what the headings are for the sites under it.

    3. I like what Tutu showed above for sites; short & sweet.

This is what I can think of presently.

YES YES YES YES YES !!!!!!

That's a big ol' YES for me.

A YES for my friend that lurks, but doesn't post.

A YES for my mom who has lurked, but will start posting, I believe, once she gets her Igenex test back.

A YES on behalf of my daughter who will one day need to learn a bit more about this disease since she's got it too.

And a YES for my hubby that SHOULD be lurking AND learning, and possibly posting because now he's got TWO females in the house with Lyme and he needs to know stuff! (And he might even have it too...if I can ever get him to fork over some of his blood & money!)

So that counts as 5 YESes for me and the people I currently represent.

Thank you!

whoopie! Thank you Bea an Lou for implementing finally!

Lou, since this is NOW a feature at the top, may I suggest all the "bumping" comments by everyone be deleted which is just taking up precious room.

If they have made suggestions to add, etc., to leave those....

I think there should be an entire category for new people. There should be a section like medical questions containing all the information and links for those recently bitten, just diagnosed etc. It should contain the Lyme disease treatment guidelines, testing info. etc.
Tree's links are great and there should be a way to keep the newbie info at the top instead of the constant "back up" mess.
With the recent upgrades, it should be easy to organize this better. Good idea!!!
