I am a female who began using topical minoxodyl / rogaine a few days ago. My doctor prescribed me testosterone and DHEA and my hair fell out over a period of two months primarily on my crown and in in the front (over my eye brows).
Since using Rogaine. I feel like I am having random, mnor pains in my shins, fingers etc. Read where very little of the medication gets into your blood stream but I am on so many meds for lyme, babs, ad previously bart... and my system is so senitive.
My LLMD said 'no way' to utilizing this product orally. But I thougth tocpically would be ok.
Has anyone else used this producct topically? I was told my hair would grow back but it could take six months for it to START to fill in!
Sarah - To answer your question, I am feeling herx like symptoms from using this rogaine topically. So disappointed!! I was using it over my entire head... I may just use it in the front and very top of my head where the fall out is really bad. Maybe the reaction will subside.

Rogaine = crapola

Anyone with Lyme should not touch any kind of drug, chemical, compound, or anything other than natural organic food and pure water, unless it is absolutely and urgently necessary from a health standpoint to do so.
Lyme already makes it difficult for the body to remove toxins from the body. This is counterproductive against fighting the disease. Rogaine, topically or otherwise is a drug, a chemical, a toxin. Need I say more?
I guess you have to ask yourself, would you rather be dead with a few peach fuzz hairs on your head or would you rather stay alive and have a few less peach fuzz hairs on your head?
Rogaine in SOME people might slow hair loss, but it does not do anything significant against hair loss, and certainly does not grow new hair except for peach fuzz. For your friend who you claim used it with great success--I don't believe it. I'd be willing to bet that whatever imbalance was causing hair loss much have reversed itself PURELY BY COINCIDENCE when she took the Rogaine. I've seen dozens of people use it and all it does is put peach fuzz at the cowlick area. It doesn't work on the top of the head or toward the front (receding hair line areas).
Growing hair has to do with hormones. Using things like Rogaine and/or Propecia is messing with the body's hormones and sex glands/organs. I think any man who uses Rogaine is just begging to get prostate cancer for woman, they're begging to get breast or ovarian cancer. Over what? A few peach fuzz hairs? Uh-uh. Not for me.
It's a shame that our superficial society has conditioned people to prioritize how they look over their health and well-being. Don't fall into that trap.
I agree that Rogaine is 'crapola.' Why? Because it's made by big pharma and it doesn't work, and most of all it wasn't even created to improve health. It was created so that it's maker (Upjohn) could make billions exploiting peoples' shallow values and insecurities. CRAPOLA. It wasn't even created via science, it was discovered by accident when doctors started noticing men who took minoxidil pills for high blood pressure were growing more hair on their knuckles and hands. So some douchebag at Upjohn said, "gee, we'll make billions if we can turn that stuff into a topical solution and convince insecure bald men to rub it on their heads." --Ridiculous.
Here's my view on the situation: If you're a woman, get a wig and be healthy. If you're a man, be a man and deal with it.
