I'm doing a combination of mepron 2 tsp. 2x a day, oral amoxycillin 1700 mg and zithromax 500mg

(3days iv and the other 4 orals). I've only been on mepron for about 4 days. When I first took

it, my arms felt like they were burning inside out and my heart felt like it was suction cupped

out of my chest. Now those things took a back seat to the tip of my nose was tingling, almost

vibrating. What's ironic is that the only time that happened was when I was on flagyl. After iv

zithromax, I'm short of breath for a while. Joint pain, nothing muscle wise or twitching

which I used to get alot, alot of shortness of breath. I've had almost a week of not much

depersonalization - that is the symptom I suffer from the most. I fell asleep the other night at

7:00pm till late the next day and slept during the day which I never did. Fatigue wasn't an

issue for me thank God, till now. Is flagyl
similar to mepron? I didn't think that mepron is

a cyst buster like flagyl,I just found it weird to have this happen to me once before in the

years that I've had lyme. You think you know your symptoms, but just as you think you know,

new ones come up and old ones come back that you thought were gone.

Thanks and God bless,
Cigi

Hi there,

Well, sorry to hear you are having these issues.
I can relate to some of it. I have been on all those meds. My doses were different though. I'm confused a bit on your exact treatment. When you say 3 days IV, what med, and what 3 days? How often do you take the 1700 of Amoxicillin? Is it 3 times a day? is the Zithromax once or twice daily? Mepron is usually given 3 times a day and Zithromax is typically 600-1200 mg per day. Amoxicillin the minimum is usually 3,000 mg a day. Your doses seem kind of off...can you help clarify your treatment protocol? Thanks!

For me, Mepron gave me tingling and burning feelings the first week, I also got bizarre rashes from it. It LOOKED like an allergic reaction, but it was just a side effect of the Mepron itsefl. It went away and I kept taking it for 4 months. Make sure when you take Mepron you eat fatty foods with it, you need the fat to help the medication absorb.

With Zithromax I did great, a bit of diarrhea ( the Zithromax revenge) [Razz] and some ringing in the ears with the IV Zithro, otherwise, just lots of herxing.

Amoxicillin was pretty mild for me, no major herxes or side effects. I did better on Bicillin LA injections.

Flagyl worked awesome for me, and made a huge difference in my recovery. I used it in conjunction with many other meds, usually IV Zithomax and Bicillin shots. As far as I know, Mepron is not a cyst buster but I may be wrong. I knwo that Zith and Mepron work on Lyme and Babesia together.

For depersonalization, I took SAM-e and an amino acid, I think it was N-acetyl carnitine, I have to check. Email me if I forget to post it.

Hope this helps [Smile] )

Hi and thanks for your reply. Mepron is 2x a day (1 tsp. 2x a day) everyday, amoxycillin is 850 mg 2x a day everyday and zithromax is also everyday (orals 4x a week the other 3 days are iv). I just started this two weeks ago after about a month of 200 minocycline. I'm confused on what I was taking then with minocycline - I regularly take toprol heart, levoxyl (hypothyroid), anafranil (for ocd), xanax and supplements and the lyme meds. Short term memory wasn't an issue for me till now. I did flagyl for a month - I ended up in the hospital with low sodium. It was coincidental timing - my ssri's for depression/ocd/depersonalization threw off my sodium. I was hospitalized 2x this year for sodium and once for my gallbladder. My doc gave me flagyl one time in january.

I hope you're doing better and am glad to know which goes with which for what.

Good health,

Cigi
