My LLMD switched me to a Mepron Zithro combo. What does the Mepron do? He is going to try this for a round or two to rule out Babs (I have chills), and if not, then he plans on putting me on IV rocephin. If that time comes, I'll need your guys' help again because I have to admitt, I'm a little scared (but think it is time).
Thanks,

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents worth. I was tested for babesia and of course it came back negative. My LLMD is wonderful and said you have all the symptoms so he started treating me anyway with Mepron and Zith.
I'm starting my 4th and final round this next week. BELIEVE me it was a life saver for me. I hope you get the good results and improvements that I have. I'm herxing like crap today from getting off the Flagyl but at least I know it's working. Hope you will have good results. Chills are definitely a symptom of babesia. I still have them but not NEARLY as bad as a few months ago. God bless you.

Thanks guys. What were your symptoms? Chills sounds like one... Any nerve pain? I just am trying to decide how long to try the Mepron/Zithro/Tindi combo that I'm on before I go with the Rocephin. You both said it took 4 rounds. Does that mean 4 months?
Thanks,

My symptoms were chills, then sweats, twitching in most trigger points, joint pain, very fatigued, brain fog, lots of Lyme symptoms too. It's hard to know what symptoms goes with babesia with it being a co-infection of Lyme.
My rounds of Zith/Mepron usually lasted about 5 weeks each time. Good advice too about taking it with butter, cheese, etc etc. I took flagyl inbetween the Zith/Mepron. That lasts about 5 weeks also.
Please let us know how it's working or not working for you. It's different like most of Lyme medications for different people.

Here's the url for a Mepron/Zith discussion. It was very helpful to me in identifying side effects. That allowed me to chalk up the weird feelings I had to the Mepron instead of to me!
