Hi Rubicon

Your symptoms match me--
I think I have Lyme and Babs-

I have been tested (Igenx)
tests came back indertiminate--
for both

I had a picture perfect Bullseye
bruse 20 years ago and have
been sick ever sence--

The symptoms of Lyme and Babs
overlap some what--

One symptom of babs that seams to
stand out tho is night sweats--
I did not see this on your list-

I have had the sweats from
the beginning --
But they can come and go alittle--

I have taken Doxi 600mg a day for
2 years-- I started Mepron-Biaxin Lx
3 weeks ago--I feel much better
and night sweats have almost
disappered so far--

How long have you been sick?--Jay--

I had night sweats a couple of times a few months ago.

I've had lyme since 1993.

Someone in this lovely group told me my weird bruising was a symptom of my babesia. So add that to the list.

A lot of my symptoms shadow menopause--night sweats, occasional hot flashes, aches and pains, mood changes. Oh, boy, mood changes. Yesterday morning I was ready to take on the world, and last night I was ready to destroy it! Today I've been up and down and mostly just tired. Lyme and Babesia, a double whammy.

Definelty get to your LLMD and get tested for all the co-infections. That way you can both know how to go forward with your treatment. You can treat babesia and Lyme at the same time etc.

My symtoms are similar to yours but I never tested pos. for Babs but am being treated for it.

I only had a few sweats that I could recall.

But as soon as I started the Mepron for Babs I had sweats after three days.

Now I get mild ones about once a month.

Babs treatment has helped with head & neck ache, fatigue, fogginess, head/teeth pressure & flushing.

The night sweats I have had
are perty intense--
I sleep with cloths on to
soak up sweat--
By morning cloths are almost
as wet as if I had jumped in a
swimming pool-

I sweat most around upper
chest- neck and head area-

I have had the night sweats
for 20 years--
They start at 2am and last
to about 630am almost like
clockwork--

If you think you have babs
you should treat for it
before it gets bad-

These sweats are almost identical to mine - most intense between 1am and 6am. So much pain all over. Mind is gone - no memory. Over the past 8 or 9 months I haven't been able to get a doctor to acknowledge I have Babesia let alone treat me for it. (In January, my Igenex B. microti, IgG titer was 1:80. Other Babs tests were negative). I've been taking artemisinin for months but just get sicker and sicker.

A year ago I was on Zith and Malarone for 2 or 3 weeks. I wasn't nearly as sick then as I am now, though.

I can't take Zith, Biaxin, etc. -- any of the macrolides. I have heart arhythmia/anxiety reactions. How does someone treat Babs when they can't take macrolides?

All I have in the house that gets prescribed for Babs, is some Lariam. UGH.
After 2 of those pills it took about 3 weeks for my brain to get over the effects.

I'm scared and desperate. What can I substitute for a macrolide? I have Doryx and Minocin MR in the house.

Do you have a doctor who can figure out the best drug protocol? So much overlaps and that is why it is difficult to find the right combo of abx.

Babs is recommended to be treated first and bart is becoming more prevalent than lyme in some areas.

The weight loss has association with babs and/or bart - I have read.

How are you doing?

My symptoms are mostly the same, but add have fatigue. I tested positive for borrelia (bowen) and negative for babesia, but my doctor seems to think i have babesia aswell.

started out 3 months with 300 mg doxy. helped some, but not much. af 3 weeks without treatment my doctor started me on 3x500 mg metronidazol (flagyl) and 3x250 mg acythromycin (zithromax) a day. I've had that treatment since august 1st and I have improved slowly but drastically. My symptoms are not gone, rather weaker and i'm not so tired all the time anymore.

I also take magnesium, selenium, q-10, b-12 b complex, probiotics and longo vital (danish brand herbal pill + multivitamins).

I have made a chart in excel where i track my symptoms severity in order to see how far there are between my symptom flares and whether i get better, etc.

Im not out of the woods yet, but feel that im going in the right direction.

I got my first bad symptoms september 2003, got a little abx after 6 months and got better, then relapsed in sept. 2004 and didnt really get treatment until april this year. I think that i might have gotten an infection 5-7 years ago that i beat down myself ( i remember a bulls eye rash at the back of my knee but didnt know about lyme at that time). I have had a sore neck and head aches from that since appr. that time, however the other symptomes onlt showed up in sept. 2003.

I have started to do some light training (table tennis 1/2 hour a day and light walking) and my heart isn't acting up so much anymore, so im pretty positive that these two drugs are doing wonders for me.

oh btw. smoking and drinking and bad food is of course totally out of the question if you wanna get on top of this beast. A healthy diet is a must, rememberm in the end the abx is a crutch to allow your immune system to get back in control, putting good stuff in your mouth and getting excersise is the only way you can help this proces.

Good luck and Hang in there everyone.
