sigh. and sigh again.

I was doing so very well these past few months. joint pains gone... eye problems (iritis due to Lyme/babs) pretty much gone. I was down to meeting the doc every 6 weeks or so, and the last visit this summer she said pretty soon we'd think about weaning me off the drugs.

She said we'd have to decide soon... since the babs titers never moved from 128 (always low, but still wreaked havoc) should we take my "remission" as the final word or should we move in with big guns and try even harder? she didn't want to make me sick from drugs since I was doing so well.

well... 6 weeks later, and wouldn't you know it my iritis is back. and my knee is just a teeny bit swollen again. so it isn't over yet.

today (in an hour) I go in for the follow up - she said she's going to put me on clindamycin. is this THE strongest drug you can take for this? is there something better? will this make me sick? biaxin sure did, ketek has been great but hasn't budged anything either (ketek and mepron).

part of the problem she thinks is that when I went on 2 wks vacation (got back a few weeks ago) I miscalculated the drugs to take and ended up rationing my mepron and ran out completely 2 days before I got home... also ran out of acidop so I didn't take ketek for 2 days til I found more... but isn't that weaning, in a way?

sigh.

Hi flygirl,

I have been on IV Clinda since mid-July and it has been a semi-rough drug for me to handle but no the worst I've had. I'm assuming you'll be on oral Clinda so it's probably a really different experience with it. The IV Clinda does make me nauseous so it's possible the oral will upset your stomach, but everyone's stomach is different and can tolerate different drugs. It's a fairly strong drug, but not THE strongest out there, I don't think. But again, everyone's different so what's the strongest drug for one person might not work for another. I'm not sure where Clinda stands with other oral meds but maybe someone else will know!

Good luck!

Peace and healing,
Annie

Hi Annie,

At this point in your treatment of IV clindamycin have you experienced improvements yet? I sure hope so.

Best Wishes - Debbie/RI
