Has anyone ever had success treating babesia with clindamycin alone?

I have been on clindamycin since June, started with 300 mg per day and now up to 1800 mg per day. Also taking ketek for lyme and flagyl.

I took clindamycin and quinine for the babesia. I had to take many, many rounds of it, but it worked. I haven't taken any babesia meds for about 6 months. We'll see.

I know that the combination of clindamycin with quinine is a commom treatment for babesia.

But what about clindamycin (an antibiotic) alone, without quinine? Has that work for anyone?

Hi,

It's my understanding that babesia is resistant to antibiotics alone. You need to take the quinine along with the cleocin to have an impact on babs.

It's best to hit it with as much as possible all at the same time. Artemisinin is also a good idea.

Many people relapse even after several aggressive treatments. It's very difficult to treat.

what if you just can't take the clinda? my stomach feels like it was gut punched. I didn't take my third dose (I take 150 mg 3x a day for ten days then double it) last night because I wanted to try to get some sleep.

the mepron and ketek made me 95% asymptomatic but little bits and pieces keep kicking in. (minor, very minor).
