Like many of you I'm always looking for ways to detox and what works.
Currently, I'm doing podi patches along with some supplements but would like to know what's been the most effect for everyone.

I'm taking milk thistle twice a day for liver detox, and 6 tablets of chlorella on an empty stomach (3 tabs twice a day). Also use lots of lemon juice in my drinking water. Drink LOTS of water!

From what I understand most LLMD's use acidophulus.... I agree on the milk thistle too on a personal note i think I like that better than acid.. gratefriut extract is a good way to cleanse foods of bad bacteria...

I'm doing podi-patches (alternating w/ebay patches) Epsom Salt baths, milk thistle and lots of water.
I need to do the foot pads & epsom salts almost everyday to keep my energy up. A few times I have cut back when I was feeling really good. The toxins quickly overloaded me and brain fog, fatigue and pain got bad quickly. Nw I know I need to stick with these even when I'm feeling better. hats

Thank you everyone. I'm doing everything listed already and haven't been able to pinpoint what works and what doesn't.
Hats...Podi Patch seems to be very benefical. When I quit doing them which I did for a few weeks I started feeling crummy again.
BTW Hats do the ebay patches work as good as Podi and if so which one do you use...I noticed they have different kinds?

I have used Podi Patches, Body Pure Now patches, Wheatgrasskits.com patches and HealthMarvels.net patches. My feeling is that they produce similar results and are all generally made in Japan. I continue to use the HealthMarvels.net patches because I do think they are good and the cost is SIGNIFICANTLY less.

Hi snowboarder,
Tincup's Tea Recipe has helped me the most, along with epsom salt baths.
I have not tried Podi-patches yet.
Tincup's Tea Recipe 1. Mix a batch of herb tea (not as strong as pills and extracts). Mix one recipe one day, the other recipe the next time, and alternate between the two. Then add the liquid extracts listed below. Recipe 1 Use the following tea bags: 4 green tea bags (decaf)- antioxidant, detoxifiers, blood cleansers, energy booster. Contains chlorophyll, minerals, and enzymes. 2 organic peppermint- stomach settling, enhances digestion,. Use for chills, cholic, diarrhea, headaches, nausea, spasms, and poor appetite. 2 Dandelion- reduces swelling and fluid buildup. Cleans blood and liver and used as a diuretic. Reduces serum cholesterol and uric acid. Improves kidney, pancreas, spleen and stomach functions. Useful for abscesses, boils, breast tumors, and hepatitis. 2 Red Clover - good for weakened immune systems. Acts as a natural antibiotic, blood purifier, and relaxant. Good for skin diseases, liver disorders, and kidney problems. 2 Pau d'arco- contains a natural antibacterial agent. It cleanses the blood and is good for candidasis and all types of infection. Recipe 2 4 Green tea (decaf)- antioxidant, detoxifiers, blood cleansers, energy booster. Contains chlorophyll, minerals, and enzymes. 2 Red raspberry leaf- Relaxes uterine and intestinal spasms. Promotes healthy nails, bones, teeth, and skin. Decreases menstrual bleeding. 2 Dandelion- reduces swelling and fluid buildup. Cleans blood and liver and used as a diuretic. Reduces serum cholesterol and uric acid. Improves kidney, pancreas, spleen and stomach functions. Directions: Boil a few cups of water. Remove from heat. Add tea bags from one of the above recipes and let steep about 10 minutes. Remove tea bags and cool. Add fresh water to make one gallon. Add 3-4 packs sweet and low, or sugar/ sweetener, honey, natural sweeteners, to taste. Add: 5 drops (Herbs Etc.) whole seed Milk Thistle extract and
5 drops (Innovative Natural Products) Liquid Germanium Drink as warm tea or on ice. You should drink the gallon of herbal tea within 2 days and keep the unused portion refrigerated. MILK THISTLE- Contains some of the most potent liver protecting substances known. Acts as an anti-oxidant to protect the liver, stimulates the production of new liver cells and prevents the formation of damaging leukotrienes. Assists in protecting the kidneys, good for adrenal disorders and inflammatory bowel disorders. GERMANIUM- Improves cellular oxygenation. What are you detoxing with these things? Do these podi patches, teas, etc, help remove the remains of dead Bb left over after being killed by abx, or are you talking about something else?
I just started abx 2 weeks ago, and have had droopy eyes, brain fog, and more almost every day. Will detoxing help lighten these symptoms?
Detoxing is something I don't recall my Drs talking about doing.
Thanks,
Patti

It has become almost funny how many friends I have taking Shakelee Liver DTX . . . they have lyme sx but don't understand they actually have lyme . . . when they take this they don't know why they feel better but they rave about it.
It definitely helps me. . . I'll make an obvious point but for newbies this may not be obvious.
Do not take your detox near meds or vitamins because it is counter productive and "detox's" what you just put in your body. Yes, I did this for quite awhile, LOL.

For detoxing, I use chlorella, FIR sauna, epsom salt baths, and most lately I have been using cholestyramine with much success. Of course, lots of clean water, and making sure the bowels are moving is critical with any of these methods.

I take milk thistle, drink a TON of water and use dry brushing twice a day.
The thing I think that really helps me, though, is the foot patches. These are patches (originally from Japan) you place on your feet, in places correlative to acupressure points.
For example, the toe area correlates to the brain, and the center of the foot is correlative to the organs.
I have used the podi patches and the ebay patches. I was mixing them up, but the smell of the original podi patches suddenly just got to be too much for me. My sense of smell has been really exaggerated since my dx, and these definitely have a funky odor that got in my sheets.
The ebay patches are a bit less potent than the podis. They're also four times less expensive (I really like that part).
They come in a variety of colors (for different symptoms), and it took me some time to figure out which patches work best for me. Right now, I'm using three different ones on different areas of my feet.
My LLMD was the first to recommend these patches to me, and now, they're an integral part of my treatment.

I started out really slow with the FIR. Five minutes or less at 100 degrees. Because I had a PICC line at the time, I kept the temp low, and slowly increased the time to 30 or 40 minutes a day. I was trying to avoid sweating, but felt it still helped my autonomic nervous system to sit in the FIR. Once my PICC was removed, I upped the temp to 125, never above, and would sit for 30-60 minutes. You need to be sure to stay hydrated before and after. And I would always shower right after.
The cholestyramine is an RX, not natural at all. However, for me it has worked better than any of the natural things I have tried. I'm hoping once I get cleared enough that I can switch to something like modified citrus pectin, which may have a similar effect, but it wasn't working as fast as the CSM has.
I used to go all natural, but Lyme has forced me to be very pragmatic, and now I use whatever works.

They use both allopathic and "alternative" treatments at my PA's office. I was told to take alpha-lipoic acid (300 mgs.) once a day and NAC (n-acetyl-cysteine, a derivative of an amino acid), 600 mgs. twice a day.
I'll see how it works.

I continue to use the patches as well and the HealthMarvels.net folks just got some new ones that have the adhesives on the patch which I suspect is much easier to apply. I have some on the way to try.

Lots of clean water. Dry skin brushing. Staying regular (2-3 bowel movements a day). Ionic foot baths I find significantly more effective than the best of the foot patches for me. Light beam generator which is a low current machine. Exercises that promote lymph drainage and sweating especially trampoline. Lymph drainage massage. Detox teas/herbs, homeopathics and supplements. Liver support. Kidney support. Deep breathing CLEAN air (I have air purifiers in my home). Internal organ massage (Chi Nei Tsang). Clean foods/diet. Yoga. Accupressure (not doing accupuncture at the moment). Saunas especially FIR and ozone. Chi machine.
I work with professionals to determine what to use when and how much or how often. Sometimes lab tests are run to help determine this. For example I had a liver detox panel done. I also had my glutathione levels checked both plasma and RBC. There are many other tests and we add them in as we deem necessary.
Its also very very important to avoid exposure to toxins as much as possible. This includes air, water, what you put in your body and on your body. Water you bathe or shower in (use a filter). Products used to clean house, clothes etc. Products used on your body. Electromagnetic fields. Toxins in house and furniture ie chemicals, molds, dust mites etc. Toxins in places you visit.
Its a way of life and it makes a huge difference.
Best wishes to all.

I really appreciate these comments. Dolphinlady's especially.
Just want to remind everyone that detoxing should be approached thoughtfully, not agressively. When our systems are already weakened by a disease process the sudden release of toxins through water/sauna therapy, herbal preparations, lymphatic drainage therapy etc. can actualy propel you into an even more debilitated state as your body is not capable of handling the disease and toxic release.
Be gently with yourself! You may want to start with just drinking more water(warm water with fresh lemon juice on an empty stomach 1st thing in the AM helps get you moving) and daily Therapeutic baths using Epsom or other salts like Bath Therapy. Replacing your coffee with a cup of tea, adding a cup or two of the herbal tea suggestions.
But one area or great importance is to keep our bowels moving so we do not reabsorb the toxins we are trying to eliminate. So if there is a problem in this area, find what works for you and make sure you eliminate daily at least. There are a lot of excellant products to be found in our health food stores!
But as I believe Dolphin Lady said this disease absolutely forces you to look at serious lifestyle changes if you have not already done so. Changing life long habits doesn't happen overnight no matter how old you are. So do not judge yourself. With each day give yourself the gift of one new choice weather its a dietary change, exercise change, adding or eliminating something from your life, etc.
This disease does not discriminate, as I well know. I am a holistic practioner with the disease. But every little step you take to build your health is one step closer to the goal.
By the way, on the topic of toxicity, toxic relationships are also a huge drain in the healing process as much as anything else.
We all deserve to have loving, supportative folks around us.......
Not A Doc, Just Sharin, These are things that have worked for me.

I've heard alpha lipoic acids are not all created equal. What brand is this best? My LLMD wanted me to find one manufactured in Germany.
One thing I haven't been able to get a good handle on is brown spots I've developed since taking abx. In the last 5 months I've taken maybe 1 zithromax a week because of horrible liver pain and still can't get rid of these spots. For lyme I'md doing a ton of alternative stuff which does help but don't know if it's a cure all.
I love the foot patches though. '
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
