Hi,

Has anyone here ever stayed on the birth control pill because it made them feel better as far as lyme symptoms go? I have been on it for quite a long time and my lyme doctor thinks I will feel better eventually off of it.. well its only been 2 weeks and I have had some heart symptoms again and more twitching than usual etc. Does anyone have any opinions or ideas on this or what may help in place of the pill? Thanks!

Stephanie

I have been on the pill for 8 years... I personally have found it a help to be on it... I have predictable/lighter periods....

I actually would be scared to go off and see what things would be like without them....

That is a really good question. I am wondering if I am still sick (15 months, caught it early) because I was on the pill from 1985-2001.....maybe it really messed up my hormones, and my hormones seem to play a big role in my health right now. I was diagnosed hypothyroid in 1991, and had it under control until I had Lyme + for about 6 months (February 2005). My thyroid is still out of whack. I think long-term use of the pill can do some damage, I never did a lot of research on it, I guess because I just didn't want to know. I do know that I will never take it again.

So I can't answer your question, but would love if others could help you, and comment on the hormone/Lyme disease relationship!
