I have had lyme for 7-8 years, but it was only actively causing symtoms for 3 1/2 . the first one I noticed was bronchitus that flared every 4-5 weeks, each time worse than before. If I rested for a day in bed, it would likely go away in a week or two. It got so bad at one point that I had to have a albuterol inhaler and machine with me at all times. I would get a 3 week stint of bronchitus and have one week or two clear before it started all over again.. Ofcourse antibiotics didn't help and still do not. I just finished a 4-5 week course of IV rocephin and it didn't make a difference, I STILL have the flares of bronchitus. I have been to every Doctor imaginable, none know why I have this. the LLMD says it IS related to the Lyme. So what now? What will ease the bronchitus?? I am sick of being SICK !

Could it be yeast? I don't know if yeast can cause bronchitus but it can cause sinus problems. Have you ever taken anything for yeast?

Have you tried Doxycycline? Doxy does well with the Chlamydia pneumonia - one of the ones responsible for bronchial infections. *Bit*

Why don't you try tetracycline 2x750 mg for a few weeks? You may even try chloramphenicol in injections for 10 days or so. The danger of chloramphenicol is greatly overestimated. I know a hospital where chloramphenicol has been used often. Their statistics showed that in about 500 cases absolutely nothing happened regarding adverse events. Chloramphenicol is very effective as there is almost no bacterial resistance observed. I assume that all bad things after chloramphenicol happen long time ago when the product was inadequately purified.

Sometime allergies can play into upper respiratory or sinus infections. I wonder if treating any found allergies would help.

I also had some bronchial/pneumonia issues that they could'nt decide on what it was early on and even while I had been doing IVceftriaxone...
Put me in hosp and iv'd levaquin and followed up with the albuterol and doxy and zith...
The next time I had IVceftriaxone I followed it up with IV claforan(clindamycin) which seemed to work for me... I also do a juiceing recipe I found for bronchitis...kale,tomatoe,parsley,red cabbage and garlic......works for me..........zman

Exposures to mold can cause the lung symptoms, and many of the same symptoms as Lyme. If you have both, it can be very hard to tell which is causing what.
For me, the lung symptoms do not go away without treating the mold issues.
