Does neuro lyme have to be treated with IV abx? I'm not sure if I have neuro lyme or not. I seem to have some neuro symptoms - primarily muscle twitches but have also had some burning sensations in some muscles.

Can neuro symptoms be completely treated without IV abx? Has anyone had good results with neuro symptoms on doxy?

Ticked, I am on Doxy 400mg/day and have been for the last 2 weeks. In the beginning it caused my stomach to be sick but I learned to eat a little before the pills, take the pills and then eat the rest of my meal. Tha nausea has subsided.

The worst part of the Doxy now is the sun burn. I don't even have to be IN the sun and I will get fried in minutes. Hoping the COLD weather pushes in and soon.

I have total neuro symptoms. I think I ONLY have neuro symptoms. Muscle twitches, myoclonic jerks, weakness, mind fog, forgetfulness, difficulty swallowing and insomnia... I still have them all but I venture to say they are not getting worse.

I am looking at Doxy as a treatment to keep this bugger in check until I see my LLMD specialist the first week of November. I am guessing at that time he will put me on IV abx and maybe some other meds.

I do take 1000mg of calcium, 800mg of Magnesium, and when I can swallow well- a multi vitamin. Do you take Mg and Ca?? Maybe they will help your twitches.

Hope you find some answers.
Michelle

I do take a multi-vitamin and either a mag or calcium supplement. About 4 or 5 days a week I take a mag supplement and the other 2-3 days I take a calcium with vitamin D supplement.

I am seeing an improvment with the twitching. The twitching in the calves and feet is about 90% better. Recently I had a twitch in a new place - the back of my neck/base of my skull. It was a bit scary. It lasted about 3 days. I haven't noticied it for the last 2 days. Hope it's gone. Perhaps a sign of a herx?

Good luck with your treatment.

Hi, I don't believe that neuro lyme has to be treated with IV abx, there are many abx that cross the blood brain barrier to get to the neuro symptoms.

I would definitely check with your doctor (do you have a lyme literate one) and see if you can find a combination of orals to work. I believe Ketek is supposed to be very good, I personally don't have alot of experience with it. I know zithromax did get at alot of my brain symptoms at one point but every body is different.

I wish you much luck!
