This seems like a silly question but I have had a swollen gland in my neck for the past three days... right side only. MANY of my symptoms tend to be right sided only so I guess I am not surprised but a swollen gland??? ANyone else experience this ever?

I'm not sure there are any silly questions around here.

Like you, most of my symptoms have been confined to my right side (arthritis in knee, numbness in foot, muscle twitching, carpal tunnel).
And I have had a persistently swollen gland -- always on my right side.

For me, that's an ongoing symptom, but some days it's much worse than others.

Hope this helps!

Andie

Absolutely not a silly question.
And this is going to sound like a crazy answer- but the cervical glands on the right side of my neck were swollen to some degree very often (which matched my rightsided stiff neck and head aches) for... get ready for this... off and on.. but mostly on.. from onset in 1988 to about 2003.

ALot of my symptoms were right-sided too.

I always had swollen glands as a child, but as an adult, I ended up getting just a swollen gland on one side.

The doctor said it's an isolated infection of a lymph node. Didn't give any explanation except that, and handed me antibiotics.

I wasn't sick, but the gland was out, and not as big as when I was a child. Those were both sides.

This was also way before lyme diagnosis. Since teatment, I've never had it again.

I've had an enlarged gland on the right side of my neck for as long as I can remember. [at least 30 yrs....I've had Lyme for at least 45 yrs]

Most of my symptoms are on the left side. Go figure! [loco]

Many folks with lyme have one-sided symptoms. This is not at all unusual. My Symptoms are primarily onthe right. My bite was on the right.

Hope this helps,

[hi] Hello Everyone-new to the group-Couldn't think of a "cool"lyme name, so used my old "CB" handle (there's a clue for my age)I have had my for 33yrs, dx with lyme/co-infections 6yrs ago. In May 05, Dr K, CT, dx me with chronic/autoimmune lyme because of the DR4 (thanks Dad) So now on plaq/zithro.

RE: swollen glands - I am recovering from 3 extracted Root Canals (Big Trouble from them) and the first thing I noticed--my tonsils went down alot, back to normal size. I can't remember the last time my throat looked so good, tight, firm, young, un-puffy I got the 3 RCs 5yrs ago, after the lyme dx (I didn't know the danger!)

If you have any Root Canals (most get infected over time) This could be part of problem. The test result from the toxicity lab (www.altcorp.com) showed that my levels were 4&5 on a scale of 0-5. It has been a wk since the last/3rd one taken out and I am already feeling better. My face is not swollen, before the surgery, I thought my puffy face was normal/OK, now I have cheek bones. I am really surprised at just my facial change in 1wk and I have noticed a difference in my left leg weakness (walking with a cane) This last etraction was my left/upper/jaw tooth, interesting, left leg getting better.

This group is great, I have been on the outside looking in for awhile, so glad to be here.
Thanks,
Teresa

Yes my husband is also having symptoms on the right side. Like paralysis, migrane, tingling, swollen glans, all right side. The only thing that is all over is the aches and pains, stiffness, stuff like that.

Welcome Littlesprout. This is a great place to get support. Too bad it's because of lyme.

How did you find out about your root canals?
All my symptoms are on my left side.

I don't have dental insurance, so I don't know what I'd do if I needed something done.

I wonder why symptoms hit one side and not the other?

Well - I had a swollen gland for several days that was quite painful and noticeable! Back when I was still trying to show up for work!

It wasn't too long after that I rec'd my positive Bartonella test result. I kind of hooked the two together.

You never know but, I feel like it was related.

Sherry

PS - my little ponytail name was also my CB handle!! Maybe it's a Texas thing!!!

Do a search in medical on Tincup's Cranial Nerves.

I have swelling underneath my jaw on the left side of my neck along with swelling underneath my skull on the left side.

Also I can't turn my head all the way on the affected side.

All of this is from cranial nerve involvement because of the lyme.

Hope this helps. [Cool]

My daughter has a swollen gland on the left side of her face. The doctor said it is Parontis or a swollen salviry gland. It is improving though.
