I started 3 weeks of doxy on 08/01/05 and then was switched to 4 weeks of IV Rocephin 2 GM. Now i am on 1500 mg of Tetracycline.

I've lost about 15 pounds in just over 60 days.

Could this be yeast related or is it the lyme?

I would suspect co-infection. Both babesia and bartonella can cause weight loss.

I've lost 10 lbs. in the past 60 days. I thought maybe it was the bio-identical thyroid hormone my doc put me on. I must admit, I'm enjoying it.

I guess it could be the antibiotics also. They make me feel a little nauseated so foods I normally eat don't look appetizing at all.

I have had the same problem and have both babs and bart. What I miss are hunger pangs, I never have them any more. The only way I know it is time to eat is if I feel weakish, but I am never "normal" hungry. But I eat regularly and am eating more healthfully than I ever have in my life.

The same as RENE and Lymelady for me....babesia and bartonella, specially bartonella was "eating" my intestinal tissues causing me burning sensations all over my abdominal area and heartburn. I had H pilory but I haven't heard about losing weight fast due to H Pilory.

This is my problem. Whenever I'm on strong antibiotics (usually IVs) I lose my appetite and am nauseous so I don't eat much at all. I end up losing quite a bit of weight in the process (I'm in that downward spiral right now). I don't mind losing the weight but I'm not eating enough right now to keep me from getting weak so it's a constant struggle for me.

Peace and healing,
Annie

Ditto for me with weight loss -- about 15 pounds in almost 4 months.

Sadly, I could care less about food (which had previously been a passion). Losing the weight is odd, because the first thing people are saying is:
wow, you look great!
Those were actually the first words out of my LLMD's mouth on my last visit.

Funny...I have a three-size closet and wondered why I was still hanging onto the smallest size. Now I'm wearing them!

In addition to diminished appetite, my sense of smell is really exaggerated, so there are things I really can't handle anymore. Prior to this, I frequently had fish. Not for awhile. Other things affect me if I've been eating them for several days. Suddenly, I simply can't eat them anymore.

Just to add: I'm on oral abx and tested negative for co-infections.

Andie
