I use 5htp all the time but not for depression but for neuro and brain racing issues.Your not suppose to take it if you are on a SSRI.For me it really calms my racing mind down and helps restless muscles. Also helps me fall asleep but not stay asleep.I feel its effects 15 minutes after taking it but it only lasts for about an hour.

I also take 5-HTP to help me fall asleep. Like Joe, it doesn't help me stay asleep, just fall asleep, so I take Neurontin to help me stay asleep. It works pretty well for me but I can't speak on it for depression. I take 100mg at bedtime.

I've taken it for depression and it helped, however I ended up taking wellbutrin when it got real bad.

I take it for those "down" days, especially on dreary days when there is no sun.
I take it in the morning and it keeps me feeling up all day. There are not supposed to be any side-effects and it doesn't seem to interfere with any other drugs.
I like that I don't have to take it everyday; just when I'm feeling "blue". It's worked for everyone I told about it.
