I took Doxy and Rifampin for Bartonella a few years ago and for me it was a horrible combo, and Rifampin itself was really rough for me. It just completely upset my stomach and no matter what I did I would throw up after every dose, even if they weren't taken close together at all (I was taking them as far apart from each other as possible for a while). That's just my experience, though, and I know some people have done fine with it.

I've taken it several times and am now on it also, together with Ketek. The first times I was on low doses (150 mg bid). This time I take 300 mg bid and have no real problems (except some herxing).
I think the reason why my stomach supports it so well is that I don't take it as it should be (means I take it with meals instead of 30 mins before). I'm thinking of changing this to make it more effective.

I'm taking 600 mg of Rifampin a day, along with Bactrim DS for a nasal Staph colonization. The first four days or so I had a very severe herx, with chills, headaches, EXTREME fatigue, and all kinds of other fun. Since then I have have been much improved over what I was before starting.
I am seriously wondering if it is treating an undiagnosed Bartonella infection, or possibly my low grade Ehrlichia infection, as well as the Staph and any impact it may have on Lyme.
So far, except for the herx, when I wondered if I was making a huge mistake, I am improving nicely.
